it appears that a few who have ordered MTOs during the RDA sale have already received their pairs. out of curiosity, who is still waiting, and who has already received their orders?

I confirmed MTO Bayfields on October 2; still waiting, not invoiced yet. Then again they're being built on a not-normally-offered size, and I've been informed that they've had to adjust a few things in the design of the boot to make it work. I'm not expecting them for another week or two at the earliest.

I agree with most of the above. I think they're too much $$$ for what they are.

Has the OP looked at frye boots? They're often better priced and the quality is pretty awesome. I've liked a ton of their boots as of late and I'm actually saving up for a pair of their black boots. If I end up getting black boots at all I'll get these:



I really like my daltons, but I'm honestly a little disappointed by how clunky they look sometimes. They're definitely not flattering in terms of width (8.5E). They're pretty damn comfy though.

Sorry Scotty, wish I could but I can't do it. There are rules against it. and the "tax free" part of it really opens up a can of worms.

No idea, but they have stitching all the way around. Their boots tend to be pretty robust too.

I wish AE made more boots like this, but then again there are a ton of them on the market already so I can see why they're not rushing. I think their boot selection, especially for black is a bit lacking. I'm interested to see if there are any changes made over the next couple of years.

I would like to see AE make the Independence Gwinnett. I have seen pics but not sure if it will make it into production or not. I would be all over these if they did. What I want is a burnished captoe boot. My fifth streets just don't do it for me. Maybe I should ask Allison if I can do a MTO for a shoe they have not introduced...

On a related note, if anyone wants to sell me a small bottle of Venetian shoe creme, let me know. I know many of you have bought the industrial tub size. I think another member broke up his VSC bottle that way and sold small containers in the past. I have a small place so i can't make the investment on the giant VSC container. I am in the U.S.

I think my issue with it is how "flat" it is from the vamp forward. They have a very sharp angle at the vamp/lacing tab junction, which gives them a slightly goofy look. They need more slope in my opinion.

I mean, I'm not one to get too fastidious over variants in shading (honestly, there are plenty of distinctions made in his thread that I barely see) but those look like two entirely different colors.

I think this is inevitable given their manufacturing method for their Bourbon colored shoes. Since they are walnut shoes that have been burnished on a black wheel to impart the darker tones, they are naturally going to have a lot more variation than they would if they were using calfskin that was actually tanned in this shade of brown. The color will only change more after you wear and care for them, either darkening or lightening depending on your care regimen. That's my issue with these. If you like the exact color as it is when you buy them, then you sort of have to "enjoy it while it lasts" because they aren't going to stay that way over the long term.

it has nothing to do with variations in coloring of the actual shoes and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that the 2nd group of pictures are not photographs at all. The first picture is a photo, the REAL color... The second is just a computer graphic. The issue is that the computer graphics they use look nothing like the real pictures. Why they don't just take real pictures of their shoes I will never understand.

His issue is not that the coloring of the actual shoes is inconsistent, but that the two pictures look completely different.

Though some people would like for AE to update their website images, I don't think it's absolutely necessary in this case. The bourbon finish differs from shoe to shoe, and it changes over time. I have multiple pairs, and I can say that the second pictures present the color reasonably well, as that is how they appear in low to medium light. If you hit them with a strong bit of sun, or condition/polish them, they can take on a lighter appearance, as shown in the first pictures. I think it's a difficult color to appreciate until you see it in person, as it can even feel darker than the second set of pictures.
