Quote: "Allen Edmonds shoes can sell for as much as $545 a pair, and are sold at upscale department stores such as Nordstrom Inc."
Don't cordovans retail at $595 a pair?

$695 if they're shell boots.

<sarcasm>Am I the only one concerned about Paul's width fit and lacing choice?</sarcasm>

I wonder what am I doing wrong? I've never been able to completely close the gap on any of my AE besides the unlined suede Neumoks. Fwiw, I don't like this particular type of lacing, although I have no problem with it.

It's not even Horween per se. The supply has been very scarce in the past year or so due to the number of factors, such as the overall decrease in consumption of horse meet in Europe, new regulations, etc. I was told things begin to look better, especially as Horween is looking for the new suppliers (Ukraine) outside of its traditional markets (France, Belgium and Quebec). However, I doubt we will ever see the prices for the shell go down and the rare colors to be abundant.

Where can I get some horse meat so I can increase the supply of shell? :)

I've actually eaten it once, in Japan. Pretty sure it was raw.

Have the MTO shoes ever been discounted before, such as they were this year with the RDA sale? I am not in a position to order right now, but I am thinking that if they discount them again, I might look to get a pair of Shell Dundees as my first chukka during next years RDA sale.

Hmmm...I'd this all goes through with JSB & MW we can look forward to...

Buy any AE shoe for $1200 and get three free!

Lovely. I hope this doesn't go through. I'm sure the private equity firm might be using MW interest to drive the perceived worth of AE up...to eventually sell out to another private firm.

Horween is the limiter, not AE. Flawless hides are needed for lighter shell colors like walnut, ravello, and whiskey versus the less-perfect ones needed color 8 and black.

Please don't post nonsense.

lighter colors like cappuccino?

they should buy from Mongolia... There is loads of horses there, and they are treated as livestock, not pets. Also, hundreds and hundreds die every winter from the cold. I lived there for a few years and ate horse meat all the time.

I've eaten it dozens of times while living in Mongolia. It is quite good, more lean than beef. Horse heart is DELICIOUS!

if the rare colors were abundant they wouldn't be rare, and people wouldn't want to buy them as much.
