Great looking shoes. What other AE's do you own? Can you offer a fit comparison to other lasts?

Already happening, if you remember the sale earlier this year, where 1st Qual shells were $399, that was to clear out the inventory (in fact, the sale was only good on shoes already made and sitting in inventory). It looks like they didn't clear all of them out, though (if you go onto the AE website, some shells are still immediately available, and most have a wait time noted when you put in your size).
My SA basically said that AE is selling a lot more shoes than years past, so they need the inventory space, and shell cordovans tend to sit a lot longer than the calf shoes before being sold. AE is just trying to manage their inventory better.
They just went from the old price ($545 if I remember right?) to $575 at the beginning of this year - I would anticipate another price increase beginning of 2013.
My AEs: all 9.5E
Natural Mctavish (5 last)
Brown/brown Strawfut (5 last)
Brown suede Cambridge Brogue (5 last)
Walnut Flatirons (3 last)
In regards to fit, all the 5 last shoes fit great except for the Cambridge. For some reason, they are really tight and I haven't worn them outside the house yet. I'm slowly trying to break them in, and if I can't, I'll probably try to exchange them or sell them at some point. The Mctavish and Strawfut fit like a glove and are extremely comfortable to wear.
When I originally bought the Flatirons, I tried on the 10D and 10E. The10E were way too wide and long. When I first tried the 10D on, they felt good. But after wearing them, they definitely hurt because it became painfully clear that they were too tight (on my right foot) and a bit long. I was able to return the 10D and was able to order a pair of 9.5E, which I have now and they fit a lot better. I will say the 3 last is definitely sleeker in appearance, but fit similarly to my 9.5E 5 last shoes.
The last of shoes are funny. I had no idea what last were until I bought my first pair of AEs. I do highly recommend trying shoes on of various sizes though because it seems fit vary by last (My Cambridges being a prime example).

The different fit on the Cambridges could come from the material. The suede may fit tighter to the last than the rough leather of the McTavish. The Strawfut may be giving you more room due to the mesh.

WOW.
chinese site, LOL.
i'm chinese, working in the states. i'm really glad that people can buy AE shoes in China.
according to the site, a retail store will be opened in shanghai this coming december.
i'm really curious about the price then.

Cool, thanks for the input. From the look of it, and your description, it sounds like the 3 last is very similar to the old 0 last, which fits me well. There may be some Larchmonts in my future...

Yes it started at the end of last year. The wait times are a bit optimistic from what I've experienced so far. My shell Bradley's were originally ordered Dec. 22 and arrived almost 3 months later in March. They bowed badly so I sent them back for another pair, AE called me yesterday to tell me they shipped and should be at my house tonight (can't wait!). I expect my shell Cambridge will take around the same length of time to arrive, they were ordered ~8 weeks ago and I still do not have them. The CS rep told me back in March that they were having supply issues with their shell supplier (Horween) so that may be a factor in the delivery time.

Excellent question. I don't know - I've mentioned to anyone who will listen at AE that cordovan should be an option for the custom shoes, and they have been telling me that it's in the works now for 9 months. I still don't see it. I imagine it will be the $100 markup for "custom" if and when they add it.
