Chris

Wow, Chris. How many AE's do you have? I'd swear that almost every model that's been asked about, you own or have owned. That's impressive.

current count is 35 - but I'm very tempted by the Townley currently on clearance.

This thread is in dire need for more pics! =). Here is my small AE family that I started last summer

All shoes burnished brown except walnut strands and black park aves

Back: Malvern, Fifth street, kenilworth
Middle: strands, bb strands, torinos
Front: park avenues

I'm thinking about neumoras or burgundy shell Cambridges next- what do you think I should get to spice things up?

Nice collection, they all look extremely well kept. I'm a big fan of shell cordovan, and the Cambridge is my favorite style, so I will throw my vote behind them. Of course, neumoras are very cool too... Good luck with your decision.

I will upload pics this weekend of the Newmora fix. I was able to look at them at my local AE brick & mortar. It looks like the defective buckle straps were cut out and new buckle straps sewn back in. The buckles are now elastic straps, awful stuff, and the repair stitching can be seen from the inside of the shoe lining.

I understand that AE needed to find an easy, quick fix, but my expectations on buying a pair are now gone. Anyone else encounter the Newmora fix?

Yikes! They should be selling those as seconds.

Are the straps still leather, just backed with elastic?

The strap with the puncture holes is the same as before. The smaller strap that holds the buckle is now a piece of elastic mesh, no leather. Sad... frown.gif

Oh, I didn't realize that was the part that broke. That is sad. Really kind of ruins the shoe. They should have come up with a better solution than that; other shoemakers make double monk straps work. What's so different here?

From the website:

RESPONSE FROM ALLEN EDMONDS

Thanks to customer reviews, Allen Edmonds now produces the Neumora with superior stitching and construction, including an Elastic rear buckle strap. These changes make the buckle straps more durable and better fitting, and will prevent the strap breakage issue some customers reported.

Should you ever have an issue with a defective shoe or are otherwise unsatisfied with your Allen Edmonds experience, please contact our Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-235-2348 and we will be happy to resolve the issue for you.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your feedback!

I have the old Mora in navy, and after a year, the straps are just fine. A matter of construction or quality now might be the different.

extremely nice collection. I love the black hampstead and winhall in the woven version. Many collectors have the basics but those types of shoes are what to set other apart. thanks for uploading all the nice pictures! Any dress boots?

The Hale no longer has the medallion toe.  The updated picture on the website removed it.  Kind of a bummer.  I really liked the medallion.

Thanks, Chris. I would love to get the Leeds in burgandy calf. Really wish they made the kenilworth in burgandy.
