Am I the only one who vastly prefers Oxfords to Derbys?

I doubt you are the only one, but I like both, and am glad that I don't have to suffer the limitation of preferring one to the near exclusion of the other. Choice is good. So is variety.

Recently there was some discussion regarding black shell, and why anyone would want black shell. They have an amazing luster to them. I work my black shell park aves yesterday and shot a iphone pic. I meant to post yesterday but forgot till just now. I love my black shells.

Just bought a pair of cordovan 8 Daltons!

I've seen this color sometimes with what appears to be a bluish hue set of laces (rounded). Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I received my pair of Neumoks from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale last week. Today I noticed some difference between the two shoes. I live in Canada, however I will be in Detroit this weekend so this will be my one and only chance to have them exchanged without having to go through the whole mailing process/possibly spending more money. Thoughts please, keeping in mind these are firsts.

For my shipment notification for the order from yesterday, nice and quick! I'm slightly concerned that my August suede loafers haven't shipped yet. They were supposed to by 9/15, has anyone had web gems take a while before? Just wondering.


Edit: it also looks like certain shoes are back in the clearance section again (kenwood, McTavish, etc...)

I think that should have been caught and relegated to the seconds pile. I would say you are justified in returning those if it's easy and it bothers you. Seeing shoes that aren't lasted straight is a fairly common thing to see in seconds, and even firsts may not be perfect, but firsts should be much better than that.

Why do I have way too much time? Because I noticed the shoes were uneven and crooked when I put them on my feet at work? Or because I will by chance be in Detroit at a mall with a Nordstrom, so I'm wondering if I should return them while I am already there, which is a 6 hour trip from my house in Canada?

Next time around maybe just say "I think they look acceptable".

Question:

I'm a young professional. Just started my first job. Need black and brown oxfords.

I'm thinking
Black: Park Ave
Brown: Fifth Ave/Strand or even Hamptons?

If I'm buying my first brown dress shoe, a dark brown rather than a walnut is the correct choice, right?
