There's some great prices on those clearance items. Unfortunately I have to try really hard not to buy anymore shoes this month.

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum, although I've been following for several weeks now. I'm a 23 year old college student that finally decided to up his style. So last night at the Rack I found a pair of AE Fairfax in Chili, I really like them. It was sort of an impulse buy, but I did it because I cannot find them anywhere, even online. So, the question is: how far could I dress these down??

Speaking of Broadstreets, here are my Walnut/Bone pair. I really liked the rolled edges.

I really don't wear them much because (A) they are really darn flashy and (B) I have too many pairs of dress shoes...

Thanks.

Oh man, I just bought some Amoks last night. Would have lived that extra 40$ off! I wonder if I can still get it if I call...

Excellent prices on those grain Kenwoods and Yuma's.

The Fairfax is a wholecut balmoral, so it is quite formal; however, the colour makes it a bit of a casual shoe. I've got a pair of tan Greenwich's that I wear with dark raw jeans; that's as casual as it can get.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, this is where I get confused. Although it is a more formal looking shoe, if it was tan I would be more inclined to think it would be easier to dress down, but the chili is a little darker..? So are you talking like dark raw jeans and just a button up, or like tucked in dress shirt and sportcoat casual?

A quick question for you gents now that this sale has lit a fire under ******. I'm interested in some Amoks, and I'm usually a 12E. I have a pair of secondhand Ashlands (also a 4 last) that look like this on the insides of the foot approaching the arch (apologies for the poor cell phone pic)-

I'm not 100% sure it was my foot that caused this, but there's a good chance it did. Would you recommend going 12E still in the Amok or would something like an 11.5 EEE be closer to the right shape (and make the toe box a bit wider)? I know the toe box on the Ashlands are a bit snug on the outside. I've tried 12EEE in some styles and my foot is swimming.

I already have brown suede malverns (chukkas)...would it be overkill to get the amok in brown suede as well? I LOVE the weight (or lack thereof) of the amoks.

Here's a question: so I'm looking at picking up some distressed McTavish shoes on clearance, but I wonder abut sizing. I normally wear about a 9-9.5 in shoes, but my first pair of AE's is a pair of fairfaxes, and I had to go to an 8 D for it to fit. Is this normal in anyone else's experience?

I have the RL Saunders and they have the leather insole, not the Poron. Also, the AE RL's are most often compared to AE's Independence line as far as the quality of the leather goes, though I don't have any of these to compare them too. My Saunders also have the 2-piece combination heel like the cordovan AE's. they fit a little bit more snug than than my 5-last shoes. I like them a lot.

Thinking of picking up a pair of RL Saunders some time soon and saw this post from a few weeks ago. Just wondering if anyone can confirm whether the Saunders is actually a 5-last or if it's something different. My Park and Fifth Aves are both 10E, so I'm wondering if I should just plan on going with the same size for the Saunders

Wish they were more Amoks in E for sale. Anyone knows if the handcrafted models are refundable? Like the Amok snuff in E width is handcrafted,3-5 week wait, doesn't that fall into special/custom order?
