I mean there is nothing wrong here; these will be seeing pavement far sooner than you'll remember that they started out as separate colors. It's your money and you should do what you want, but I personally wouldn't hassle with it.

They feel very different though, the darker sole is very tacky and the lighter one is smooth, the textured heel is also about 2mm higher and feels softer. I noticed the feel while trying them on before I even looked at the soles.

I just got my Manistee Belt in walnut but it is in no way close in color to my shoes. It is marked walnut but looks more like bourbon or a generic dark brown. (The tips of the shoe just seem darker due to the shadow from the window frame.) Is this a common issue? Should I reach out to AE and see what can be done?

I personally would not worry about that. I don't need my belt to match my shoes dead on, it just needs to be similar. Also being darker than you expected allows it to go with other shoes better as well. Just my personal opinion.

I second that, belts and shoes should be the same color, but no necessary the same shade.

Just got the walnut Manistee myself, and they don't match my walnut (shell or calf) Daltons or Strands. But I agree with TTR. A belt is far enough away that it doesn't need to match exactly.

I don't own the Manistee, but every time I have looked at one in person, it has been a different shade. I agree with the others, that it is acceptable.

I echo other's sentiments on the walnut belt. I will also suggest that your strands will darken with time and polish to the point there will be no difference with the belt. I was shocked how light my Strands were when I first bought them. Two years later, I'm surprised by how much they have darkened due to time and polish.

If it's any consolation I have the wide basic dress belt in dark brown and it is almost black, i.e., no where close to the color of your belt.

Personally, I don't think I could feel a 2mm difference - but that's just me. It's most important that you are happy with your purchase. If you wish to return, it's up to you.

When tying my shoes, the loops of the laces always seem to line up vertically along the shoe instead of a more pleasant looking horizontal bow. Does anyone else have this problem? What am I doing wrong?

That's surprisingly common for right handed people. You will have to relearn to tie your shoes and undo decades of habit to get rid of it.

you've probably been tying your shoes wrong your whole life. Hope this helps.
