So...should I return my unworn strands to nordstroms and buy them from amazon? It would save me about $50-$60. Hmmm...very tempting.

If Amazon has your size on sale then yes. I looked and no size I could fit into is going at that price.

That's $50-60 towards another pair of shoes!

Doc - you requested some pics of me wearing my Ashbury's with jeans. Here you go. If it helps at all, I wear an 11E on all AE lasts. As well, I have not worn these boots for more than five minutes so I don't know how much they will crease (I'm waiting until fall to really start wearing them). Also, I included a pick of my snuff suede Amoks simply because they rock:

Gentlemen, I'm interested in a pair of walnut (tan) RL Sandersons. In my searching online I can't seem to find a retailer that sells them except for RL.com. Is this a discontinued style? I'd like to try them on before ordering. I think they are on the 222 last. Can anyone confirm? If I'm a 7.5E on the 5 last, what size generally do people think I'd be in the 2? From reading this forum I understand that the 2 can be difficult so that's why I'd like to try on some before ordering. RL's site only seems to list D widths.

Are they worth the extra money? The AE Winter Park in the orthotic line look similar but more casual. What are the main differences? The Players also seem similar albeit a slightly different design.

I'm interested in a walnut/tan wingtip with open lacing. I think I'm using the correct term. I have a pair of McAllister with closed lacing. Again, not sure if i'm using the right term. The other option is the Larchmont but I don't like the squared toe. The MacNeil only seems to come in grain and I'm looking for something more formal to wear with suits.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone have the old Fairhaven's? A wingtip Oxford like the McAllister but - I think - on the old #4 last. How is different than the Mac on the #5?

Call one of the Shoe Department MANAGERS (not a regular sales associate) - and ask them to price match a refund for the difference. All they need is the web page to show the deal.

Be prepared, however, that the deal may not be honored because it requires an Amazon Email Subscription for the full savings. It may not affect the store you bought them from, because you can also offer to sign up for their email subscription.

I purchased the LONG BRANCH boots from the same store, and then AE had an exclusive sale a few weeks later with over $100 savings. The store manager refunded the difference as a price match

Another tip is . . . the store offers a free no-credit-check debit card in their name that taps your checking account. The card upgrades you as a regular customer to a Rewards Customer - which approximately DOUBLES the amount days you can purchase on selected sales!

If you have problems getting a price match, let me know.

All my best,

David

Let's be fair, David only has 96 posts referencing Nordstrom out of the 324 posts he's made in this thread. That's not quite even 30%! It could be far worse.

Kinda funny you counted this up, made me chuckle

I believe David's intent is honorable. It is highly evident that he has an obsessive personality and when he finds something he likes, he mentions it repeatedly to anyone willing to listen. I have thought about blocking his replies before, due to the fact that the majority of his posts are redundant or copy/paste descriptions from websites, sometimes hasty (as when he called out ColdIron for mistreating his boots), but I do find some of his information useful and therefore live with the redundancy.

David has mentioned before that he has been ridiculed in other forums for being a bit overbearing, so he is aware of the fact that his personality can rub some people the wrong way. I, for one, enjoy having a few oddballs around the campfire...though, it would be nice if the Nordstrom Tales were available in Cliff's Notes.

So I went into my local AE store today and heard some great news (apologies if this has previously been shared), but the Mora is coming back as the Mora 2.0 with the original design. Gone will be the days of sifting through ebay and forum post.

In honor here is a picture of my freshly shined original Mora's

Got me confused, did the SA say what the differences will be on the mora 2.0's? Wondering if I've made a mistake in buying 2 pairs of neumora's Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

Now you are trying to steer people away from other companies in order to pay more money to Nordstrom for the same product. You just advocated that someone pay an additional dollar to buy their shoe trees from Nordstrom, instead of JAB.

Yes, that is correct. For the extra dollar - members can get the much better preferred SPLIT-TOE cedar shoe tree than the non-split tree from JAB.

Below is another copy from a later post:

Personally, I prefer the full-toe (or whatever the proper term is) trees. My real preference is the twin-tube Epic trees. They fill the toe box much better IMO. But I couldn't pass up the deal jab so picked up 4 pairs of the full-toe trees for $8.50 a pair + shipping. Thanks to the poster who alerted us to that.

Why are split tree better? When I purchased Gucci they sold one piece trees. If $600 shoes come with one piece then why would split trees be better?

Split-toes can typically fill shoes out better than full toes, unless you're talking lasted trees. I don't think it really matters though, since I think trees really fail to do anything about creasing and are more about making sure the toe doesn't curl up.

And considering Gucci pumps out corrected grain, glued-on-sole shoes, I wouldn't put much credence in your line of logic.
