I'm still currently awaiting order confirmation for the Amoks. I also ordered cognac Ridgeway seconds for $127)and the walnut Shreveport at $162 for firsts, provided my $35 coupon from my recent recraft.

The Amoks are in inventory, but the store couldn't locate them. Instead, I sprung an extra $30 for brown leather Mojave boots.

Second-guessing the Ridgeway as I didn't realize they had that bright-orange reverse welt. Mistake? Planning on this to be a fall beater shoe, especially for drizzly days given the mini-lug.

Oh dear, did you buy the brown Mojaves in 10.5 eee? I bought them previously and returned. The defect is that the toe stiffener is crooked and bent, and the shoes were painful the wear. I suggested that they shouldn't be re-inventoried. frown.gif

Hopefully your experience will be better.

Ugh! I should always consult with you before placing an order.  As I said earlier, I seem to have all the bad luck with AE. Here is hoping they're not the same pair... Lisa at Mebane might just lose her patience with me if I make another return! :nest:

So, uh, I guess I'll look forward to those Shreveports that won't get any wear until spring... and the bright orange Ridgeways. :)

You can darken the Ridgeway Welt

I suspected as much, although I'm not sure what the best way of doing this would be. Honestly, I just need to see the shoes in person before I decide if I even want to attempt it... I might just keep it as is?  I doubt I'll wear them outside of fall.

However, my wife did just belittle me for wearing colored laces on my brown suede Strands. I can't wait to see her reaction to the Ridgeway's welt.

Ha! My wife saw me restoring the nap on my suede McAllisters with that tiny suede brush, and she thought it was the funniest, most absurd thing she's ever seen. Took pictures and sent to her friends. frown.gif

A few months ago, in a pinch, I needed a belt to match my Vernons for a wedding, so I purchased the WIDE BASIC DRESS BELT in Chili size 36. Unfortunately either I put on some pounds or miss-sized because I'm now down to the 2nd to last hole and it just looks goofy short. The belt was worn 3 times, once to the wedding and twice to work. Is anyone interested in trading with me for a size 38 in any formal style, color chili or bourbon? I bought at regular price, so a cash sale probably won't make sense for me.

haha! I restrict my more intricate shoe care routines to times when the lady's out of the house :)

I took a chance with sizing down on the a pair of 12D Promontory Points in football leather from the shoebank and they're headed back for a reason I didn't think I'd ever have to deal with...I got boots in two different lasts! Lol

(AE last on left)

(AE last on right)

It's not as noticeable from the first picture, but I think the second picture makes it pretty clear. I was already taking a chance by sizing down a full size, but it turns out that the Wolverine last fit me dead on...just wish I had two of them!

Alas, back these go.

Yea, they both had them. I tried them on with and without them and in one shoe at a time as well. The AE last just didn't give me enough room width wise.
