Also, does the 2 for $300 cover all the 'tent sale' listings including cordovan?

The only discount I'm aware of is that our rep at AE (Allison Meyer) will waive the custom shoe design fee to place MTO orders. For more info on that, please see the fairly exhaustive AE MTO thread (1st page has details).

As far as I know, the 2/299 sale has now ended, and that was on second quality closeout styles only. I believe the cordovan westchester loafer was honored, if you were lucky enough to snag one in your size.

The "Tent Sale" happened last month.

Never fear, though, outlet sales happen frequently. Just follow this thread for news...

And Allison was ok with doing the reduced perforations? I had asked previously about doing a current style with no broguing or pinking and was told that these were part of the pattern and couldnt be removed.

The actual response I got was "I think so, but I will have to check."

Pinking cannot be altered.

I've heard from an SA the outlet Labor Day sale is Aug 21st -  Sep 1st. I don't have any other details including pricing. I googled around and last year it looked like it was 15-50% off all seconds.

So it will be worth waiting a couple of weeks to order my second pair (I ordered my 1st pair yesterday, a pair of black Cordovan Leeds). Thanks!

Slow here today. Guess everyone is sitting tight until they get their closeouts.

Out the door for a spring preview event for Ralph Lauren. Wearing the Jeffersons tonight.

Anyone gotten their Cordovan Kenwoods or Westchesters in from the sale? Curious how they look.

I was browsing the shoe bank site today and saw there was a pair of Kenwoods, however they were in the current section. But the description said closeout shoe. So I called up my SA and asked if I could trade a pair from my 2 for pairs for that one since it hadn't shipped yet. He was telling me that they may not have supposed to been included (which I've been told before) since they pulled them down or moved them from the closeout section on the website to current over the weekend. He put in an order to get and said he'd honor the sale price since it was hard to get a hold of him over the weekend. (I've also got a decent order history there)

Looking great except are those...god forbid on SF...BLACK PANTS?!?!

All kidding aside, sounds like a cool event, but Spring? Is that how early things get started in the fashion world?

Coke and Pepsi.

The lasts are very different so find which one fits. They're very similar.

Nah, midnight navy. But it is an evening event after all. It's a private preview showcase for high volume buyers, and VIPs, so the retailers will need a few months lead time to get product to market.

RL (company not the man, whom I've never met) is always a great client, though. This is the fourth event I've contracted for them (I'm a musician).

There's a lot more choice when it comes to Alden. Pretty much every retailer has its own version of either Alden PTB or dover

  • in: shell, CXL, calf, suede,
  • on: double, flex welt, commando sole
  • with: antique, natural, black, etc. welt

With AE however, you are limited to the stock Leeds, which, IMO are unimpressive. This said, you can MTO your Leeds if you know what you want.

Other things equal, my suggestion would be to go with Alden. PTB in Barrie last look beautiful.
