How does the Amok fit?

I wear a 8D or 8E in the 5 last and an 8.5 in the 1 last. Seeing a park on the shoebank website in an 8D and I am not sure about how it would fit.

I got refitted using a brannock device at an AE retailer (but not an AE store, I live in Canada) and they said that I'm using the proper size (12 D). The other shoe seems to fit fine so it's gotta be a difference between my two feet. One more thing - I never wear dress socks with them - would this be a significant contributing factor? Id like to pick up a pair of Strands and possibly Mcallisters to reduce my reliance on the same pair of shoes everyday but don't want to shell out big money (for me) if they won't fit (I think they all share the same last). If I pick up Strands/Mcallisters they'd be AE (i.e. not Brooks Brothers) models so I'm not sure if this would help or hinder my fit since AE branded shoes don't have the Poron insole.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like wear from wearing the same pair of shoes too often. If you get a second pair and start a rotation as well as store them in shoe trees, your shoes will last much longer.

Picked up a pair of brown Williams from the Independence Collection and Cognac/red Dainite McNeil 5 on the 2/300 sale.  Missed out on Cordovan McGraws.......surprised to see shell on the sale!

I know it's bad practice to wear the same shoes every day but where I live has pretty limited access to decent shoes. I honestly don't have anything to rotate with at the moment since my options in town are cheap $25 Wal-mart pairs or $150 shoes which are only marginally better. I'm prepared to buy another 2 pairs of shoes to reduce the Fifth Aves' workload but just want to make sure that I'll be buying the correct sizes since doing so will be a pretty major financial commitment for me.

If the ones you have fit well you can buy the same size in the Strand or McAllister. The poron insole fills the shoe a bit more but most people would not change sizes from the AE to the BB branded versions.

Though the topy already installed BB versions might be good to continue to get while you have a limited rotation.

So I am finally going to stop lurking to say thanks for all the great information! I am going to try my had at some seconds with this current sale. I was able to pick up Bourbon Kenilworths and Burgundy shell McGraws. I had to go down a width from my normal size to get the McGraws, but I ham hoping that wearing them thin loafer socks will mean that this wont be a big problem. We will see when they get here on Saturday.

My current AE collection includes Brown shell Jeffersons, Burgundy shell Cambridges, Black Vernons, Brown Park Avenues, and Walnut Strands. I think the blucher and loafer are just the thing to round out my collection . . . for now . . .

I'm a 13D Brannock and 13D in MacNeil (7 last). Had to go 13E in Amok which is good, but 13EE would have been great.

I thought I remembered people saying it fit narrow but couldn't find the posts, thanks for the heads up.

Yes, quite narrow. But...the unlined suede does have some give.

Still, I had to return my 10.5 3E. Have been tempted to try 11 3E, because I'm able to fit that size in the Regent Street (same last) quite comfortably, but thinking that prolly wouldn't work with a 2 eyelet chukka.

I wear 8.5D in Amok. I may have been able to do an E but they have stretched nicely and I find them quite comfortable. I think 8 would work for you

Hey guys, I'm usually a 10D on last 1. Due to inventory issue they only have 9 3E on the same last for the shoe that I'm looking for. Is it likely that they will fit? Thanks!

Hi rydenfan,

Getting a bit off topic - I just bought a pair of Mogano from trickers and when I looked around I saw you have a pair of those from some time ago. How are they holding up after some time? And how would u compare them to say Horween leather / AE shoes? Thanks.

Excellent! Great pickup. I love mine. The shell is different as it comes from Compel in Italy. But I would say it hold up quite well and is on par. Mogano vacillates from dark brown to deep purple depending on the light. It's a great color

They look great! I'm just concerned as I'm already having a few AE Burgundy shell (I have got Dalton Leeds and MacNeil) so it doesn't add variation to my collection.
