My new Walnut 5th Aves just showed up - and I'll be honest, I can't see the defect....
Most regular folks notice the shine (or lack of it), rather than the small pimples. My first glance at your collection conveyed the stewardship you may attention to in the overall appearance.

Nice collection!

Thanks, I just gave them a quick bath in AE Conditioner and a quick wipe with a towel. I need to get some walnut polish before I really shine them up, so far I'm very happy, especially at the tent sale price.

The Manager at Nordstrom's Department Store I spoke to the other day personally has 90 pair of high quality brands of shoes for himself. The brand he wears most often when he is on his feet each day are ECCO dress shoes. He recommends them for very, very good comfort - when not wearing Allen Edmonds shoes> LINK TO ONE SALE THIS WEEK: CLICK HERE
Must be a slow day in Montana if David is trolling again.

Looks like some pretty serious gaping on the inside of the left shoe. And are you sure you're buying the correct size? Looks like close to an inch(!) of space between the left and right sides of the vamp, when ideally they should be nearly touching when tied. Otherwise, beautiful collection! I'm trying to decide between walnut and bourbon strands as my next AE purchase...

I agree with the above, looks like there is some gaping in the shoe which might result in heel slipping.

it was the first time I wore them and They weren't completely tied (tighten) but I noticed in the picture too.

When I originally bought the black 5th aves I remember being annoyed I couldn't find the same fit as my Hales.

These are 7.5EEE and I remember trying on sizes around there and this was the best, although the fit on my Hales is amazing, like a sock.

So I just took some new pictures "to prove them wrong" and you're right, I think I'll try the 7.5E.

See for yourself

A recent find buried in the back of my closet (during a reorganization ordered by my wife) prompts this question. (I’ve search here, and elsewhere, but haven’t detected a consensus of opinion.)

Not two days after ordering some 100% linen pants on sale at STP, I found a practically unused pair I had forgotten I even owned that turned out to be the same color as the ones ordered (“sand,” which I think some call “natural”). Not the rope-tied-in-the-front, everyone-in-the-family-wear-white-for-a-picture-on-the-beach linen pants (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but tailored linen dress pants. I swapped the ordered pair for what STP (or Hickey Freeman) calls “olive,” though it’s more of a lighter green-tan.

Anyway, just in time for summer I now have these two pair of linen pants and it occurs to me I may not have the right sort of shoes for them.

Here is my little collection:

Oxfords:
Black wing-tips (single sole)
Burgundy McAllisters (wing-tip, single sole)
Brown Jeffersons (wing-tip, double sole)
Walnut Strands (cap toe, single soles)

Bluchers:
Pebble grain walnut Macneils (LWB, double sole)
Burgundy shell LWB’s (double sole)
Brown RL Sandersons (LWB double sole) (Thank you, Kristle at Jeffersonville)
Ravello shell cap toe (double sole)

Obviously, I’m heavily tilted toward fully brogued, “heavy” shoes. And there’s nothing I have that is a dedicated “spring/summer” sort of shoe. So, my questions are:

 1. Is anything I have even passable as a proper shoe for these pants?;
 2. What should I be looking for to better work with these pants?

Something versatile enough to wear year round would be nice but I am not opposed to a seasonal shoe.

My primary leanings are toward AE but any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks.

Can you post a pic of the pants?

How about neumoks? They are unlined brogues great for summer. Or go for a different look with loafers?
I love your collection but the longwings will likely look too heavy.

Plus this is a great excuse to pick up a new pair :)
