I already have 3 pairs of casual wingtips, so even harder to justify.

Ah, well then, the choice is now whether or not you need a casual, blue suede, medallion cap-toe. I'd say you most definitely do not. But why should that stop you if you truly desire it? I submit that it should not!

Guess I didn't really talk you out of anything, but if that's what you truly wanted you should have asked your wife/girlfriend and not the members of this forum.

Well, now that you mention it, there is NO way I could sneak a blue suede shoe past my wife's unusually watchful eye and near-photographic memory. That's DEF something she would have noticed and remembered!

Hey BCer, Could you please comment on the fit on Daltons compared to Strands (last 5???).
A friend of mine suggested Dalton feels bit narrower. Is that true. I am 9.5 EE on McAllister, should I go 9.5 EEE on Daltons?

I find the Strands fit me like a glove (as do Neumoks) in 11.5D. In McTavish, I have two pairs in 11.5E, as the D width just seemed to squeeze the hell out of toe area. As they're breaking in, they are loosening - maybe too much in the heel area. The Daltons I purchased (er, stole) on eBay after being worn only once. They are 12D, and length is great, width at the ball of my feet is great (maybe a tiny bit snug), but I have some heel slip. HOWEVER, I've probably only warn them 3 times for a total of 4 or so. I'm thinking that when they really wear-in, and the soles flex, the heel slip will disappear. It's not bad, just a slight bit. So I have a combination of 11.5D, 11.5E and 12D in AE. Seems typical, guys have assorted fits depending on the style and last. If I hadn't stolen the Dalton's on eBay, I would have definitely tried some on and maybe ended up with a different fit - although I couldn't go any narrower across the ball of my foot...

AE does offer styles like that from time to time. They've had a few webgems in the past with the Gatsby webgems and custom Neumoks. The Broadstreet is also a two-tone, but only white and something else.

Oh, that was not intentional? Now what's actually more impressive that it works well enough for you to not notice that you did it. Generally shoes feel differently when they use alternative lacing styles. Maybe you should send that over to Ian Fieggen:http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/index.htm as an addition to his list of lacing methods!

Quick PSA...

The website doesn't look completely set up yet, as there are sections containing instructions to the seller on what to type where, but they took Paypal and $150 just seemed like a pretty good deal, and free world-wide shipping to boot.

It took PayPal about 10 minutes to decide that this was a scam.

Money refunded. Lesson learned.

My main concern would be if the dry leather is any where the shoe regularly creases. If not, throw some conditioner on there and see if that helps.

Yes it is where the leather would crease judging where the faint creases are forming on my chili Ashtons. Would the main concern then be that the dried leather would crack or split instead of forming a proper crease?

I have once put AE Conditioner/cleaner on them when I first got them (they darkened a bit initially which I didn't like, but lightened back up fairly quickly), and since then, I just brush the crap out of them when I take them off, at least once every couple of wears. The picture doesn't show, but they're a pretty rough, banged up leather. At first I thought WTH, but then realized it adds the character that makes them cool. IMO, the rough grey looks good on the McTavish. I see a pair of Park Ave's on eBay in "grey cloud" or something that keep coming up, and I think they look vinyl...could just be the picture. I'll see if my iphone will get a good closeup of the leather...stay tuned.
