I need your opinion on this. I'm pretty sure I already made up my mind but just wanted to see what you all thought.
I snagged a pair of factory second Shell Cordovan Burgundy Dalton's during the tent sale and was super excited. I've been pretty busy at work so I didn't get a chance to really look at the shoes that much yet until today. Unfortunately, I noticed some things that I think are too big a deal to not return/exchange but I'm curious if you guys agree.
In the first pic, you can see the hole/dent (what do you call it?) that is my biggest concern. It looks like over time, it could get bigger and pose other problems such as water getting through and such.
In the second and third pics, you can see the problems with the brogue. The holes don't seem to have been punched all the way through on a lot of them and it kind of doesn't look even either. This is the biggest cosmetic flaw that I can see.
In the fourth pic, you can see some discoloration (black spots) on the shoe as well as line scratch that can be felt with the fingers.
All in all, I think there are just too many defects with this pair, especially with the hole so I'm thinking I should just send these back. I do have a question regarding this though: do you all ask the store to send out another pair to see if the new pair doesn't have as many/as big of a defect? How does this work in terms of price since the tent sale is obviously over? Would you guys recommend going this course and seeing if the other pair will be better? Lastly, what's the best price for the shell Daltons on sale for first quality?
Where are the pics?
