Just picked up my black shell Leeds and burgundy shell MacNeils, sorry for the horrible picture, I'll be sure to get a better one later when I have more time.

EDIT: Also picked up these Shreveports in walnut. A beautiful shoe in my opinion.

I initially conditioned them yesterday with VSC as I have been putting them in the sun to fade them a bit so they were a little dry. These pics are pre application of the finisher.

Once they were buffed and dry today I used a clean t-shirt and started the application on the left shoe, I did one coat, then went over with a second shortly after. Left shoe in finished in these pictures.

Went on to do two coats on the right shoe and then went back for a third coat on both. Here is the finished shoes from a few minutes ago, they are still drying and tacky. I am not sure yet how long it will take for them both to dry. Once they do I with hit them with a quick brushing and buffing to see the results along with maybe a thin layer of paste wax.

That's a fine transformation from flat burgundy to glossy caramel.

I'm already kind of regretting it. baldy%5B1%5D.gif Hopefully when I see them in person I will feel it was worth it (first dress shoes). Also hoping there won't be any fitting problems.

I also picked up 3 cedar shoe trees, 2 bottles of conditior/cleaner from AE, and Bourbon shoe cream.

I can get Kiwi (cordovan) and Kiwi (Black) here. These two are wax based right? Will bring Shine. Will I need cream for the black/cordovan? Will I need wax for the bourban?

I'll see if they have that Saphir Saphir Rennovateur, Saphir Cordovan Creme, Venetian Shoe Cream or Lexol(haven't used, but I've read other forum members use it with good results).

I'll also get 3 brushes and tear up an old t-shirt. Anything else I'll need? Edge dressing? I think I read something about having to be super careful with that but I think I remembered all the essential things off the top of my head....
I use cream shoe polish for edge dressing. I usually follow it up with a coat of wax polish. It makes it easier and less messy, plus I can get that stuff (kiwi etc...) at the local drug store in a pinch.

I will be an hour away from the AE factory and wanted to take them up on the offer of a tour but will not have time. Hopefully next year...

Any one have cordovan Patriots, and can share an inspiring pic (or experience)? lurker[1].gif

I have both the brown and burgundy shell Patriots, they are the first loafers I found to fit me perfectly. I have a narrow heel and no arch on my left foot and very little left on my right. Love them, I wear the brown in the summer around the house and yard almost every day and the burgundy when going to town with causal attire.

Looks really good.  How long did you have to keep these under the sun?  Was it direct or under shade? Keep us posted on how the Angelus coating holds up.

On and off outside on my deck and in my windows for about a month now. Mostly direct sunlight and conditioning with VSC weekly to keep they hydrated. Lots of paying attention to rotating them to try and keep the fading even.

I can't wait to see a pair of brown cordovan patriots in my size on the seconds list. I have a narrow heel and low vamp as well but have still yet to try them.

How do you find them for sizing?

I wear and 8D in the 5 last and and 8.5D or 8E in the 1 last

I had a pair of Kenwoods in an 8D that worked well too.

Nice job on those Leeds, I will be watching to see what happens. A pair of Leeds in burgundy is my oldest shell and they are almost brown now.

I am the same fit in both 1 and 5 last with the 5 fitting me just slightly better. I am 10D in both (TTS) and the Patriots are also 10D. The brown pair is slightly tighter fitting than the burgundy and I wear them without socks which is something I used to think I would never do. But in the summer it works extremely well. The burgundy I wear with thin dress socks and black superfeet inserts. Good luck, I hope you can find a pair on the seconds list both of my Patriots are seconds. The burgundy you can't tell are seconds, on the brown there is some stitching slightly off on the welt but not enough that most people would ever notice.

ya I was wondering on sizing too, esp since I'll probably wear them without socks.. and still leaning toward Brown or Burgundy -- probably will get Burgundy since they have a pair with the Vtread sole...

I'm sized as 8.5D on 5 last but sized down to 8D on the MacNeil's (7 last) and have 8.5D on my Long Branches (1 last) .. so any suggestions for the Patriot (last 6??)

I am typically charged $45 for shipping then hit with another $25 from FedEx upon delivery.

thanks! have you ever ordered multiple pairs from same outlet? is shipping 45x2 or somewhere in the middle? debating running a couple pairs through the sale if possible or the 2 for 600 down at rego

edit: has anyone done the 2 for 600 at rego in toronto? any restrictions or hidden requirements?

Only been charged $45 for multiples from my experience. Though last time I bought two pairs of cordovan they gave me free shipping.

Its 45 per shipment, ive confirmed that a few times with reps and never got charged more. If youre nice enough they might forget the shipping too.

thanks! great to get more feedback. what was the total surcharges on your order? 45 shipping + what tax or other fees were there? depending on the total i might make the trip down to rego and see their selection before making an order.

anyone know how often these types of sales run?
