Really hope these work out as they pretty much hit the main three suedes I would need...until I decide to add Olive...

Fashion question for those with an eye for these things...The Spiaggia has that orange sole and the Strandmok has the white with that green band...do you take these colors into consideration at all when pairing the shoes with pants/shirts etc?  Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Nah.

The sole of the Spiaggia is more pink than orange

Missed those before. They look great!

I think I'd go V-Tread instead of Dainite, but otherwise might shamelessly copy.

How'd you size compared to 5- or 1-Last?

Does AE make a similarly styled boot under their own name?

I'm pretty sure only the 725 and 744 Ltd were made by AE. I think the Original 1K is made by Wolverine.

The Promontory Point was fairly similar in last and shape, from what I understand.

I took the same size as I do for the 5 & 1 lasts. To me it fits fairly similar to the 5 last, with the difference being that the 8 last has a slightly narrower feeling heel.

I might be wrong, but these don't look like they are made by AE. I think AE only made the Krause, 721LTD and 744LTD. The boots on the picture have a 270-degree welt--something AE doesn't make.

AE has a similar boot called Promontory Point that has been discontinued. Select sizes are available online but if yours is sold out, you can try to search them here

Noticed a few QC issues with the pinking around the wings on both shoes, but maybe I'm being too picky. Great looking shoe though. I most likely will keep.

(right shoe some of the pinking isn't lying flat, left shoe the arches on the wings are not symmetrically the same).

The more I see, the more I like it ... it's my favorite color ... congratulations ...

And for shits and giggles, here are the original botched ones, that Bl@ster was so gracious to pass on my way - at his cost.

Loved that Promontory Point makeup from the first time I saw Blasters post it. Was hoping Blaster was my size so I could snag the rejects too.

Congrats guys!

They were MTO'd with regular leather insoles, had poron insoles installed, had ordered brown welt and edges, but the sole edges are brown and welts were left natural, and the welt stitching colour was incorrect (I believe). Personally I like the contrast natural welt as it gives a definition to the sole/upper seam. And in my case, the poron insole makes the slightly large size work perfectly.

They did have a few minor flaws that my local cobbler repaired. Where the lacing 'panel' is stitched down to the vamp area, three of those panels were all loose - very loose, as the stitching was literally unravelling. All fixed now, and Topy's installed. I'm still AMAZED at the number of issues and rejections that AE experiences with MTO's. How many have you guys rejected, or have you been notified that yours would not be shipped due to issues? You would think, as this is a premier program with AE, they have senior, well qualified shoemakers on the MTO line. It seems at times like they've got brand new greenhorns trying to put together these custom orders. Surprising, the amount of errors. Anyway, I'm thrilled with my 'rejects' from Bl@ster! Now to get busy brushing to get the AE gunk off the shell, and bring out more of the beautiful depth of the leather...

But yeah I feel you on trial and error with regards to sizing as I also am at a location where there is no AE. What I did was order 2nd hand shoes on lasts that Im interested in off ebay to check the fit. Some have been keepers while some are for posting back. I find that its the cheaper way to go about trial and error, and you find some gems along the way too.

I think the pricing has to do with import taxes to the EU - if I order off the AE site I end up with roughly the same price tag when shipping, sales tax end import duties are stacked on top.

So, just as you say, I order off ebay (the Finch pair was $ 80) on a trial and error bases and just suck down the additional charges for getting them here. However, that strategy kinda excludes me from the rather sweet MTO-program.

Any advantages to being in the EU? Yeah, a pair of Carminas will set me back about $ 530...

I decided I needed an "in the wild" shot of my Rush Streets. I think this is one of the better ideas AE has had recently.
