Thoughts on RL Sanderson snuff suede for $150? Work with jeans? I would say so since they are blutchers + wingtip + suede?

How do they fit compared to 5 last AE?

I have a Mcallister bourbon, Larchmount chocolate...so is there still room for another wingtip? Others in my collection include Randolph chili loafer, black PA, burgundy Clifton and brown Del Ray.

First winter storm of the season forecast for tonight.  Time to get the 3 year old Bayfield's buffed and ready.

4) a little off topic, but what do you think of the shirt and tie i plan to wear?- suit i have no choice but to use that same color, but the shirt and tie, was thinking of using this as well..
I suspect you'd be wanting to post all this in the "ask a question, get an answer" thread rather than the thread devoted primarily to Allen Edmonds shoes.

Hey guys, need help over here as well. I'm ordering my first 2 AEs on shoebank and would like to hear your opinions on what I should get.

For now, plan is to go with (a) Walnut Clifton and Black Delray or (b) Black Clifton and Brown Delray. I'm open to suggestions, but want to be upfront that I'm not a big fan of the Park Ave.

These will be my only shoes as I'm replacing the only two I own. I'm in my early 30s. Will use both shoes to work with navy blue or taupe Brooks Brothers slim pants (Monday-Thursday), black or dark blue jeans (Thursday/Friday). Don't want to be too formal as most people in the office (big Tech company) are very casual. But I also want to use these shoes with a suit on rare occasions (5-6 times a year).

Thank you.

First start with the colors you really want/need. Black? not necessary unless you are going to some really formal occasions or your office requires it, which it sounds like yours does not. I would go with Walnut and Merlot (Burgundy) first, if you are looking for a darker color other than Merlot then go with Brown.

From personal experience (26 and work in a business casual office) I have only stepped foot in black colored shoes twice this year and you can bet they aren't Allen Edmonds. I see no reason to spend a large amount of money on black shoes knowing I will hardly ever wear them, mine are Cole Haans that I bought on sale and before I became an AE fanatic. Remember, you can wear other colors with your suits. Walnut is very versatile and so is Merlot. Chili is also a great color.

The issue many will note here is that you've focused on two blucher (also known as derby) models. See how the eyelets are on a flap? That is considered more informal. Balmoral models (Park Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Strand, etc.) are more formal and are traditionally worn with suits.

That said, I wear black Clifton periodically with my suits (I wear a suit daily). It's not my favorite look, but it's totally pass-able. So I would go with black Cliftons and brown Delrays.

Those are fantasic!

I have been looking for a pair of boots for the winter and these fit the bill perfectly. I just ordered a pair from Land's End who still had my size.

Can anyone confirm, is the Bayfield made of Chromexcel leather? I was between the Oak Street Trench Boot, The Wolverine 1000 Mile and the Bayfield and decided I would stick to my fav shoemaker and get the Bayfield.

@ScottyBoy920 @Troilus @Gauss17 thanks for the quick reply!

Reflecting on what you guys said, I'm now considering adding 3 pairs as prices are great.

Would go with Clifton Walnut, Delray Brown and Brooks Fifth ave Black.

Other thoughts?

While not the choices a "typical SFer" might have made, that rotation there can get you through really any situation.

I have a pair, and they're great looking shoes.

I wish I'd been able to score the tan calf version too.

Thanks gents.  I'd like to know if all Bayfieds are Chromexel as well, to be honest, I'm not really sure if mine are or not. :embar:
