...Where to buy AE conditioner in Canada? It's a 5 dollar product on the AE website but shipping to Canada adds 30 dollars to it...where can I get it for 5 bucks in Canada considering I'm nowhere near the Harry Rosen or whatever dealer in canada sells them? I couldn't find the conditioner on amazon either ;S....not a good situation

You mentioned not being near a Harry Rosen (i've never heard of them) so I looked them up. Although they don't have AE conditioner on their site, they DO have mail order. I would give one of their stores a call and see if they can ship it to you. If it's a domestic shipment, I'm guessing they can ship it for MUCH less than $30.

Pretreatimg suede, in my opinion, is crucial. You may not intend for them to get wet/dusty/something spilled on them. However, you will be glad you pretreated when that happens. Also, I believe that pre treating them helps the longevity of the nap. I've always pre treated my suedes and they all look great with infrequent brushing to restore the nap and retreating them with protector. I use the UGG stuff because a local store had it and have good experiences with the Nordstrom brand suede treatments. IMO, it's like a screen protector for your phone, does no good once the screen is scratched.

Well, I don't use a screen protector or case on my phone, but I will pre-treat my Amoks. Thanks for the tip!

I've always felt that suede needed a couple coats of protectant before I ever wore them, and I think I feel that way for the same reason I have a case on my phone. Like MikeHaro said, it doesn't help once you beat it up.

On another note, it's finally warm enough to ditch the winter socks.

These are my first suede shoes so I don't have much to compare them to. Any thoughts on the best way to care for them? I've heard good things about the alden suede care product as a pre-treatment. Necessary?

Depending on the shoe, your planned usage and how you want it to look, you might not out anything on them. A light layer if waterproofing is almost always a good choice but other than that, it's up to you. There's nothing wrong with putting nothing else on and letting it build up a little 'character'.

Not sure if you're trolling here, but I love putting on my Allen Edmonds in the morning. Not only are they timeless (like someone above just said), but they can be very modern as well. I can think of very few occasions where it would be inappropriate to wear a pair of my AE shoes. It sounds like you may trend towards today's "fashion" rather than style. . .Style can be timeless while Fashion comes and goes. I'd love to see the shoes you wear to see what you consider to be stylish!

Hey you... yea you. Go *************. In the midst of ******* yourself, I'm sure you can dig up a Kenneth Cole Reaction footwear thread collecting dust in this forum somewhere. They have shoes that are shaped perfectly to fit directly into your style-less asshole.

I'm new to Allen Edmonds and I'm dying to get myself a pair of Strand in walnut. After that, I plan on purchasing a pair of black shoes for more formal occasions but I'm not sure which one I should get as I like most of them in brown shades. I have found the Rutledge in walnut to look amazing but not sure if I'm willing to pay that extra money. The Fifth Avenue is also on my list but in brown/walnut, not black. I'm open to any recommendations to a pair of AE's in black and other shoes that can be worn with more casual wear such as chinos.

Agreed, however I don't think he even responded to any of the posts/responses yet, has he? lol

Regardless, to answer his question. I love putting my shoes on in the morning. I take pride in the way I look, and I love the way AEs finish off the look for me. It might sound a little "over the top" but I like the fact that I can tie up a beautiful pair of American, well made, unique shoes that aren't only sophisticated, but also EXTREMELY comfortable. Also, even though they aren't anything special like Lobb, G&G, etc... I rarely see them on anyone else's feet.

I'm in the process of revamping my dress shoe wardrobe, so assume that I have no "real" dress shoes other than my recently acquired black Park Avenues. I'm looking to get brown dress shoes, preferably a cap-toe blucher, possible a quarter brogue. An oxford would be a possibility, but I'd prefer the slightly less formal blucher, as they seem more versatile. I'd like to get another pair of Allen Edmonds, possibly seconds or used. Any recommendations?

So far, I'm considering the Fifth Avenue (even though they're an oxford) in either brown burnished calf or walnut calf. I wish there was a shade of brown available between the two, as brown burnished is a bit darker than what I'd prefer, and walnut seems too light. Would the brown burnished be acceptable to wear with mid to dark gray suits or trousers, or best with a lighter gray only?

The Clifton in brown is another possibility, though I understand those are discontinued and may be hard to find. I'm sure I'd have to buy these used.

Any other recommendations? As I'm looking for a pair of shoes versatile enough to be worn with a suit or simply with dress trousers and a button-down shirt, and possibly a blazer, would it be most preferable to get an oxford or a blucher? Some say oxfords are only for suits, while others say bluchers shouldn't be worn with a suit. Personally, I'd rather wear a blucher with a suit than oxfords with something other than a suit. The formality of an oxford demands a suit in my mind, but that thinking is perhaps flawed, and I'd love to hear other opinions on the matter. Convince me that oxfords aren't just for suits!
