I got my Yumas in today, they are so sexy!

Noob question: Is there anything I should initially do to protect them? Perhaps apply some leather treatment or do they come protected?

I will post pictures as soon as I am wearing pants

From the AE web site:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Bourbon color of Premium Shoe Polish by Allen Edmonds is an old, discontinued shade of bourbon we use to manufacture our shoes with. This color is not the same color used in our current line of bourbon shoes. For our new Bourbon Collection, we recommend using our Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish in Walnut.

Our Bourbon actually begins as a warm, walnut colored leather. After our burnishing techniques take place, we not only heighten the shine but imbue the surface with contrasting low-lights which results in a rich depth of color.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
Allen Edmonds Customer Service

But my question is this: if I just keep using Walnut polish on Bourbon shoes, won't it eventually even out the color and ruin the original effect? Should I just use a neutral cream or Saphir Renovateur without any polish/cream after?

This might be a silly question, but is there still a way to buy a pair of new walnut Players? I love the look of the walnut wingtip blucher. I actually really really wanted a pair of the RL Sandersons but missed the boat on that sale and even at the seconds price of $260, they don't have any in my size. The Players shoe would definitely fill that void for me, but I guess it's discontinued?

The best call, if you want some Players at this point would be to call the ShoeBank and check eBay. Luckily, I was able to scoop these firsts before they disappeared from the market in my size.

Messing around shooting a few pictures for my blog today -- these were my first pair of Allen Edmonds, which I bought in September (Fifth Street balmoral boots, dark brown). I'm up to 4 pairs already now

I'm not a shoe expert but:

They don't really come protected. Most of the time, they stay in a box on a shelf until someone buys them. I took advantage of the recent clearance sale and picked up the the Yumas as well. I put some AE conditioner, some polish, and brushed it. Last time I posted regarding the Yumas and a majority of people recommend some Obenauf Heavy Duty LP for the boots, to further clean and waterproof it. A forum member previously did tell me that bison leather is pretty "strong" and doesn't require too much maintenance. At the very least though, I would use some conditioner so that the leather can be nourished.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy mines. I just broke it in and no longer blister when I wear them!

Hi. newbie in allen edmonds footwear. Just got a pair of walnut strands, but before I start wearing them, I was wondering if anyone could provide me to a page where I can learn what products (to clean, polish, etc.) are great to "age" my walnut strands beautifully. MOST importantly, how I should polish, clean, etc. them. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks

Any recommendations for shoe trees? (for my strands, specifically). Is the AE ones any good?

Those will work, but you can find less expensive ones that will work just as well. The least expensive tend to be at Nordstroms Rack or when they have a 3 for one sale at Joseph A Banks these are even better.

I'm a noob when it comes to this..

I recently purchased red Neumoks--which are sick.

Does anyone have a method of taking care of them? Would you apply Obenhauf's heavy duty LP?

Allen Edmonds newbie here, I want to order the webgem Neumoks. I have in the past tried on Park Ave's in store, and the 7D where snug but fairly comfortable. Some mentioned on Reddit that the Neumoks are built on a variation of the 5 last and are slightly narrower, but I didn't find any mention of this on AE site. If true, is is something to worry about (that is, if I could fit into a Park Ave, would the extra narrowness on the Neumoks work out with a little breaking in)?

I wear 8.5D in all of my 5 last shoes, including the Neumok (tan suede, to be specific). I think the "narrowness" people speak of in regards to the Neumok is more of an aesthetic observation. Since it's unlined, the upper is much thinner, so it certainly appears less substantial (ie. narrower). In my personal experience, this doesn't affect the actual fit of the shoe. My 8.5D Neumok fits as comfortably as my 8.5D McTavish, Black Hills, etc.
