I'm looking for a potential alternative to Park Avenues for a black cap-toe oxford. I measure 13.5C/13C left/right foot on a Brannock device, so I'm tricky to fit. I can kind of wear a 13C on the 5 and 8 lasts.

Can anyone speak to the quality of the Loake 1880 Rothschild? I haven't been able to find anything on SF about it. According to their size chart, their 13 UK is about a 13.5 US. It also comes in a UK E width, which is narrower than normal. I also like the placement of the toe cap a little better. Link: http://www.loake.co.uk/rothschild.html

ETA: Of course, Wikipedia claims that UK shoe sizes are typically 1 whole size difference from US. Who to believe?

Great find! I was just about to bite the bullet on Park Avenues but i am now highly considering these. They look great.

In my opinion, having tried on and touched Loake shoes, AE is of higher quality construction.

Not inclined to purchase any of the suede webgems. On the bright side, this will give my wallet a much needed breather from buying any more shoes. I was seriously tempted the moment cappuccino shell was mentioned.

I think I would've passed anyways because I imagine the cappuccino shell color would be similar to the 744 LTD shell color, which I recently was also lucky to acquire.

I do not recall seeing this already so here goes. A pic from that same Reddit thread that was mentioned earlier:

The OP said it from a friend that was taken at a "MRket expo in NYC"

This was posted a few months back, during the day of the AMA....but it is quite an appropriate repost, considering the days' events

Eh, the suede Strands aren't that bad. The Strandmok, that's bad (friggin' horrible). I would actually consider wearing the green suede Strand.

Does anyone own or have any experience with the Naples? I could use a casual, tasseled loafer and these piqued my interest. They are on closeout and happen to have my size left.

Nice, I'll give both a try. Thank you.

All good advice. Too late on these Elgins as I've worn them out a few times, but I'll be sure to think hard about the fit of the McTavish when it arrives.

Thanks for this confirmation. I'll wear these McTavishes around the house a bit and see if I have the same experience. I'm actually surprised 8E was wide enough. Were you able to compare with 8EE or 8EEE?
Typically I have seen E or EEE width options. I believe the Cambridge goes to EE, but not sure if there are others.

Here they are!
AE Daltons in Walnut Cordovan

They fit a little more lose than other AE shoes on the same last. The fit in the toe box is spot on but my heel does slip a little. Besides from this minor fit issue i'm loving the way they look.
