Agree with Gauss17.

Read through this article, and enjoy your shoes!

Fabian43 alerted us to this sale a few weeks back via AE's website.

I was channeling my inner elbastardocalvo with that perspective.

If I were 10 feet tall, I'd be quite unbalanced with these 8.5D feet.

HaHa! Yes, you would need more surface area on the ground to hold up that frame...

I need your opinion fellas!

I'm sending in my AE Polo (saddle shoes) in #8 shell eventually....

Should I go with the Double Rededbach sole? ($10 extra) or just keep the regular single Rededbach look that the shoe came with.

I'm leaning towards Double, but I'm afraid that could take away from the "normal" look of them.

I would stick with the single oak.

Double.

Shell cordovan and double soles are synonymous with each other imo.

Processed By eBay with ImageMagick, z1.1.0. ||B2

The seller's probably not getting a high enough bid, so he's not honoring the sale and reposting them.

He actually did sell them several times. I must admit I purchased them as well a few months ago but then returned them back as they didn't match the description (the seller listed them as black and I couldn't tell from the pictures whether they were black or navy blue). They were purchased again about a week ago and the buyer posted pics in the AE thread. Apparently, he sent them back as well.

Why is this, by the way? I've always wondered about this particular piece of conventional wisdom. My shell strands look good with a single sole...

In my opinion single vs double depends on how you view shell. I view it as a super rugged piece if armor on my feet. Double soles make it more tank like. Others see it as a high quality dress leather, and single soles are better for dress shoes arguably. Neither is wrong. Just depends on your philosophy.

Btw I think my shell neumoks just cleared inspection since I got the follow up invoice and charged.

See I think of it as a nicer leather. My preference on Single vs. double depends on the shoe style. LWBs should have a double leather soul, where as the Stand definitely should be a single leather.

Congrats on the completion of your MTOs! Very exciting. Always fun to see. I am interested to see how the shell lining looks and works out on your MTO.
