i'm definitely going with calf... but i haven't decided on the color (and i am actually considering ordering it in walnut, brown & burgundy)... i guess i have a problem with getting every shoe in every color... crazy.gif but i guess that admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery!

i would be open to suggestions if anyone wants to weigh in:

currently in my closet:
in black:
Park Avenue
Strand
Quinton

in brown:
Park Avenue
Strand
Dryden

in merlot/burgundy
Park Avenue
Strand (MTO Arrived today!)
Fifth ave

in walnut:
Park Avenue
Strand
Fifth ave

I know that the Strand and McAllister are built on same last...but I'm sure I've heard before there are differences in sizing, specifically that the former fits larger the the latter. Any experience here?

In my personal experience, my McAllisters are looser than my Strands. Not sure if thats because they are an MTO... doubt it. When I first got sized in the McAllister, I went down a width compared to strands and Nuemoks but when I bought them, I decided to stick with my normal size.

Contrary to the post above, my experience is what you stated. My McAllister puts pressure on my toes by mid day, while my Strands in the same size are too big. I had the McAllister first, then got the strand based on that size, but should have gone down a half size.

wearing my first pair of seconds on their "maiden voyage" AE Flatirons - ~$149 iirc  Very happy with this shoe/last.  Good info on here a bunch of pages back about all the welts. Thanks!!  Does this forum have "stickies" or permanent threads for common questions/answers or not really?

All calf or with another fabric?  Buff colored oiled canvas with a lug sole would get my attention (and perhaps that of Filson or Orvis as an exclusive).

Not only did she not mark it up any, but since I had originally inquired last week, Allison honoured the RDA price of $293 or thereabouts. I still have to pay to ship it to Canada, but figure this would pretty much wash with the discount.

What's your size? The medallion looks so much bigger on yours than it does on my clodhoppers!

Thats amazing! Did they mock-up a rendering for you to show what it would look like?

Just realized that since Sanford has been discontinued, AE doesn't make any cap-toe blucher :brick:
