I got my second MTO today and wish I had Allison watch over the order, instead of making it through a store. They failed QC once and the pair I got in the post today should have failed also. I am hoping to get them redone properly. I just hope my shell MacNeils are made much better and in a more timely manner. 4 months to get a shoes that is inferior quality is not good.

My Dundee and Leeds were on the same schedule. I just got my Dundees so I assume my Leeds did not pass inspection the first time around, either. Interesting.

Is AE all out of walnut shell or is it some left?

Also, how much would an MTO shell Bayfield cost for those who did them? I already ordered a pair for $167 so it's kinda hard to beat the value of those, but they look so sexy in shell.

Yes. I am considering that exact same makeup and would do it in dark brown. I am back and forth between it exactly like that or a bit more traditional like this plain toe

Has anyone posted any pictures of Leeds in cappuccino?  I recall a cappuccino makeup in the Rawlins I believe, but not a Leeds.

Where did you get them for $167?

Walnut shell is all gone.

Yeah, felt that with a staple shoe like that I should have two pairs so that if one is off getting repaired I'll still have a pair of black cap toes. They're also different sized pairs, one is 12D and the other 11.5E. Got them both early on when I was trying to figure out what size I was.

Mine were around $600-$650 I think. I cannot remember exactly

8.5E fits more snugly and securely but the lacing gap is wider than i'd like, whereas 8.5EE feels slightly too roomy in the toebox but has a more pleasant lacing gap.

Both shoes are brand new.

What do you think?

8.5E

8.5EE

Since they're calf leather, I would expect them to stretch a bit more. My Strand's lacing gap was like your E pair too when I got them, but they were very comfortable so I decided to get them anyway. This is probably the 7th time I've worn them, and this is how the gap looks now:

Hi Guys,

Should I go for a Brown or Bourbon Strand? Need your advice!

Here's my current AE rotation:

Park Ave in Black
McAllister in Merlot
Rutledge in Burnished Walnut
Townleys in Brown Cordovan
New Orleans in Walnut
Neumora in Black
Neumora in Brown
Elgin in Tan
Neumok in Olive Green
RL Saunders in Tan
Daltons in Grey

Non AE:

Edetal Wholecut Medallion in Walnut
Tod's loafer in Walnut

I really like the Strand in Brown as I feel it's a very subtle, underrated style that exudes quality.
I also like how the toe box polishes up in some of the photos here.

On the other hand, the Strand is the only style in Bourbon which I like and that's the only shade not yet included in my rotation.
However, I also can't stand how the burnishing rubs off so easily with just a little renovateur or clear saphir cream polish, this makes them rather difficult to condition.

What do you think?

I have the brown Strand. Very nice shoe and I really like that color.
