Also, it would seem that the shoes are too narrow for your foot. The laces shouldn't come apart that widely.

I agree that a 4 eyelet would work better, and as long as the shoe creases properly, I'll be fine. I have the Neumora, and get some double creasing due to the elongated 333 last.

The spread is just under an inch at the top of the "V", which I've found to be acceptable. If the shoe were too narrow, the topline of the shoe would gap around the throat from the pressure pushing the throat outwards. Basically, the spread isn't the only indicator. Also, as I'm sure you know, the upper is going to stretch quite a bit, allowing the eyestays to move closer together. When I first bought my Jeffersons, the spread was about 3/4". It has now stretched to the point that the spread only measures about 1/4".

UPDATE: Interestingly enough, where most balmorals are lasted with the eyestay touching (if you've ever seen a pair being made, they use a plastic tie to keep the eyestays together while lasting), it seems that the Hanover is lasted with a natural "V".

If you lace them the European method, the gap will be smaller.

Brown Burnished...

Or maybe in bourbon...

I know the Kenilworth runs slightly larger than other 5 lasted shoes. I haven't heard of any bowing issues, myself. I would think that, being a blucher, there would be less bowing. After all, most of the time bowing is caused by the speading at the throat of a balmoral, because the bottom portion of the eyestays is fixed, and cannot adjust to accomodate the volume at the top, or it is caused by the lack of an arch/instep, causing downward pressure on the upper at the inside of the foot.

Bottom line: I wouldn't expect any excessive bowing from the Kenilworth.

I have a pair, like its simplicity and elegance, and recommend it.

Got an MTO that is in the final inspection stages. How long between this step and receiving the shoes?

Usually no more than 10 days or so

A few that won't pass the QC might eventually end up at the ShoeBank but the probability of you getting a pair in your size is pretty slim, though definitely non-zero. If memory serves, shell seconds retail for $499 (or $449?) so your savings compare to the first quality WebGems are pretty minimal.

This actually reminded me that The Shoemart sells Alden shell cordovan seconds for $399, including cordovan boots. This might be a better deal that AE shell seconds

Unfortunately they do not all pass QC the first round. That is why I am going on 4 months for my suede MacNeils. I hope my cordovan ones go much better.

Wow. 4 months for suede is a long wait

They are nice.  If they were my size, I'd consider grabbing that pair.

Does anyone have RL Saunders in suede? I haven't seen it in person but given it's on a 2 for $250 sale I thought I might want to check it out. Is it similar enough to Amok? Is there be any reason I'd want to have both?

Does anyone know as to when the next AE sale is? I missed out on a couple good options and now have only 1 pair that I'd like to buy. The 2 for $250 may not work for me after all. Thanks

I have it in suede. It's... okay. The suede isn't of the best quality. You get what you pay for.

It is a very long wait. I was actually surprised when I emailed and she mentioned is going through final inspection. I was expecting two months. I hope it passes. My order was similar to the pair of MTO cappuccino strands that were posted a few pages back. I am really looking forward to receiving mine.

Not similar to the Amok.

Another option is the Shnautal that can be found in Nordies Rack.  I think someone got some for $175 recently. That's a suede longwing, and has a double leather sole.
