Four weeks later, they showed up about an hour ago.

Very comfortable right out of the box. Many thanks to David and his man at Nordstrom.

I'm delighted to see he is still taking care of forum members the best he can.  Thanks for the follow up.

All my best,

ON TOP OF THAT...  THE BOOTS IN THIS PICTURE ARE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, NOT SO MUCH FOR THE AE WEBSITE PICTURE.

AE IS A HANDFUL OF REAL WEBSITE PICTURES AWAY FROM HAVING PERFECT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I think you may have missed the point that DJ's selection were Seconds and not first, hence the possibility that that AE was not satisfied with the finished color:

DALTON SECONDS

Granted, the general condition of the seconds boots are in good condition and look nice.  But if I were looking to purchase Firsts based on the AE picture, I would expect AE to deliver them as shown to me.

you are right in that the finish of these daltons may have been different than AE expected.  However, my comment was more in regards to the fact that this guy had his dalton's for less than a day and got the picture up.  It took AE much longer to get their computer graphic of the AE dalton in bourbon up.  Also, I've never seen an AE shoe that looks exactly like their website photo.

I've been looking at the old AE catalogs from the 70's and 80's.  The pictures they have in the catalogs are absolutely gorgeous.  I guess I just don't understand the logic behind the computer generated website photos.  It can't be cheaper, and it clearly takes much more time, I suppose there must be some reason or they wouldn't be doing it though.

I chatted with AE's customer service online and they said to go with the same size as my 1-last Sheltons but wanted to get your opinions. Thanks.

I find they are a little long. I would go down 1/2 a size. For reference, I am a mixture of sizes in different lasts, but ordered my Chukkamok's in 13E. I wish I had gone down to a 12 EEE (they don't do it in 12.5, otherwise I probably would have tried a few sizes in 12.5).

Does anyone know if AE also makes the Ralph Lauren Slaton's in suede? I know they make the leather Slaton, just need to confirm.

The Slaton is or was available in a snuff suede.

Thank you for the recommendations on the sizing of the 4-last compared to others. I'm thinking of maybe going with a plain chukka instead. I see the Mojave on the website but probably will try to go with seconds to save money. What are my options for a plain suede chukka? I think the Amoks are mostly gone. It looks like maybe RL had a Saundes in suede at one point?

Wondering if people think these are authentic or what the deal is, I have never seen the markings in the locations they are on these shoes.

These are real, just old, deadstock shoes. AE moved away from that insole typeface a few years ago.

Ordered the MacNeil in burgundy shell from the shoebank for $380. Does that seem reasonable for new shell seconds?

welp, strand seconds are going back :/ a bit too wrinkly for my liking and a slight cut in the leather. came straight from the factory so I wasn't able to get j'ville to look over them.

shame, as they were a good deal.
