If anyone is a 11.5C, there's a pair of very lightly used Shell Cordovan MacNeil's on eBay. $149 OBO.

The heels may need to be pushed back into place, however, even the most incompetent cobbler can accomplish this task.

There is also another pair in 10.5C on eBay. $215 OBO.

Great find and thanks for the heads up... I have blown my shoe budget for the year unfortunately... I wish there were more posts like this... As long as they are size 11.5 or 12. smile.gif

I've enjoyed this thread for some time, but this is my first time posting.  I have to thin the shoe herd a bit, so I just wanted to give a heads up that I put the shoes pictured (The Rutledge in 11.5D) up for auction.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/151104386464?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Wife comes through the garage door. Even when she can't park our car there due to some boxes and stuff we need to move. The other day I got home about 9 b/c I was working late. She didn't even see the AE box left behind by the fedex guy smile.gif .

what about cappuccino shell with natural welt sole. The cappuccino seems lighter than the dark brown shell. What are your thoughts on this combination?

Just received my second MTO. I wanted a dress casual boot and selected an older style called the Taunton. I like the simplicity and versatility of the plain toe. The bourbon color is especially attractive with every shade of brown I have ranging from the lighter tans all the way to the darker browns. Some forumites may not like the chelsea boot style, but they really appeal to me. Any comments on these?

Hi,

Any idea if the Park Avenues will be again on sale on Amazon again? I friend told me that they were selling for 220 and you could get an extra 20% just a few weeks back! So sorry I missed itfacepalm.gif

I agree. Although I did go with a little darker welt/sole edge.

Me too!

The logic that varnished shoe trees would be counter productive makes perfect sense to me as well, and I have subscribed to that belief, albeit without any hard evidence.

However, in a couple of posts in the thread I posted previously (see posts 31 and 32) the question is posed about why plastic trees wouldn't be just as acceptable to use if varnished trees are indeed considered ok.  Nobody really had a clear answer, but John Cusey (SF name jcusey) responded with his belief that there shouldn't be any difference.   Manton pointed out that all of his bespoke shoes come with varnished trees.

Who knows for sure.  I'm certainly not a xylologist.

I am happy with the results I get from cedar trees, and I'm happy to stick with the price point of cedar.  Cedar certainly isn't hurting anything.

Damn. I just bought a pair of Grenson Chelseas, but these just put mine to shame.
