I'm gonna go for the Daltons since Winter is here...anyone have anything to say regarding an old-fashioned sole versus the V-tap thread sole? I couldn't find an explanation on their site but I assume that it would help in slippery conditions....and it can still be recrafted, right?

Mexicutioner, Thanks for the frank feedback, though at first I was a little taken aback...I appreciate the revision, however, and I was actually on the verge of getting the walnut daltons anyway so I needed the extra push. I'm relieved to see the change from "you suck at life, don't even try" to something a little more constructive

Edit: Damn...one thing leads to another...I checked out that link to the Kraus boots and now I'm lost on wingtip.com...was thinking of upgrading to the Cordovan Daltons and then saw the Wolverine 744 boots and really like the color...

Just got mine too, same price, great shoes for the cash. Will go into my daily rotation. Polished the medallion toe, looks great.

I put 2 coats of Renovateur on right when I got them, just to clean them up and give them a little extra shine. I then took the Saphir wax and went at them for a bit on the toe, it brought out a little better patina and darkened them up just a little bit, looks great.

Anyone wanna comment on the 3-333 last's fit in comparison with other lasts? I thought I read it fits similar to the 5 last, where you generally size down 1/2, but with the 3-333 last there is no need to up the width.

I wear a 9.5D in the 5 last and a 9D on the 3-333 last. The 5 last isn't tight on me, though I now believe that a 9E or 9.5E might lead to less noticeable creasing. The 3-333 last in 9D is snug, but not uncomfortably so for most of the day (I start wanting to take them off after about 10 hours, but not before).

More anectdotal evidence, but strengthening my hips eliminated my ITB issues too. The stress fractures were another story. I hope you heal up quickly.

Some stitching is coming off the side of my MacAllisters when I was polishing them.

It's on the broguing of the wingtip on the outside of a shoe.
Is it bad, should I fix it? How much will it cost?

I would get it fixed. I imagine any local cobbler could take care of it for you, but I don't know the price.
