Agree with your thoughts on this.

+1, well said

For those who have Dalton's, I'm really close to pulling the trigger on some walnut ones. Can anyone tell me how high they are? By that I mean measurement from floor or arch to the top of the boot.

From the bottom of the heel to the top of the quarter = 7" exactly.

I've gotten some great deals on this thread by you and other members giving each other a "heads up" of retailers having AEs on sale. Remember that Jos A Bank deal on their Park Aves? Went to a long lunch and missed that one baldy[1].gif

BTW, your second link didn't work. Thanks, again.

Thanks so much for the heads up.

Here is the sale link to AE:

This is a trick question right? The answer is that it doesn't matter, because you should not be buying either of those shoes in black.

Have you guys ever used the shoe fit guide available on the AE website? Would you say it is fairly accurate?

I'm using it now and my feet are slightly inside the E (wide) zone. When I had my foot measured at the AE store, the SA told me that I could still fit in a D (medium) and that he would recommend a D. However, based on the guide, I think I should be an E  -- according to the guide, you should go wider, not narrower. FYI, my AE D-width pairs are my most comfortable leather shoes.

Any suggestions? I'm ordering another pair (McAllisters) and, unfortunately, I don't have access to an AE shoe store right now so I can't fit the shoes.

Picture of my 11D Strands (please don't base it on the lacing gap -- I believe I have a higher than average instep).

Personally, I find the fitting guide spot on, but everyone's feet are different, and it is better to have room than no room, pity you didn't try on the 11E in store, did they only have D?

Try straight European lacing, it will help with the gap.

I'm not really sure if they didn't have an E. I went to the Rockefeller store in nyc and they seemed to have sufficient stock at that time. I also wouldn't say the SA was lazy, because I must have tried on several pairs in different colors and models and the SA was consistently gracious and chatty.

I do now regret not having tried an E while I was there. I guess I just went along with what the SA recommended. Plus, I've always worn a D, so I didn't think it odd at that time.

Looking at the pictures, would you say I would still be okay (be better) with an E?
