Actually, even when I'm not wearing the PAs, they curl upwards about the same amount. I sort of noticed this already when I first got them, but I didn't really think much about it since I thought the shape would change once I wore them more.

These, on the other hand, are my Strands on the first day I wore them. Nothing but perfection!

That's an incredible photo.  The entire ensemble looks fantastic and emphasizes my love of earth tones that I lean towards in my own styles.  The Strands look flawless in the picture.

Yes, the sale that Nordstroms has going includes shipping to Mexico for a flat rate for your entire order - which can include more than a pair of shoes.  You can add anything else in the box for the same flat rate!  Just contact the Manager (or send me a private message on the forums for the name)

Someone asked about the Cognac McTavish a while back? Sorry for the long delay. The colors are a bit darker in the pic than in reality. The creasing is real, but I love thsse shoes regardless.

That was me, thank you. I didn't order them because I had read for the McTavish you should go down a half size compared to other shoes on the 5 last and the sale only had my regular size for the 5 last. Could you let me know if this was true for you?

I went down 1/2 size in mine and while they fit pretty well I think I would have rather gotten my normal size. They are definately a bit larger then other 5 last shoes however.

Hey tietherope,
In my experience they are definitely a little wider than other shoes on the 5 Last. I usually wear a EE on the 5 Last, but with these I got single E and they fit wonderfully.
I'm torn though in giving advice because they're not quite a full size bigger. It's not like buying a shoe on Alden's Barrie last. I believe your normal size could work out.
Regarding maintenance, I haven't ever polished them; I usually just wipe them down at the end of the day, brush them, and then brush them up again before wearing again.

I think they are very versatile shoes in this color. Dedinitely recommend cognac over say, the distressed brown currently on clearance.

Has anyone tried to get AE to price match the Nordstrom sale on Walnut Strands BUT with the combination tap sole?

I was looking at the Nordstrom's website to check the in-stocks for the shoe I want ahead of the anniversary sale and saw that my size (7E) is out of stock. Does anyone think more will become available once the sale starts or would my best bet be trying to get a price match at an AE store?

Thanks!

I stopped in at an AE store this past weekend. The SA mentioned that they'd match anything offered in the Nordstrom sale.

Seeing that you are from NYC and so am I, could you tell me which location you went into?

Thanks guys. I wear a 10D in the Strand and McAllister and they are just the slightest bit too big. It does not cause any improper creasing or wear, just a bit of moving around in one foot for the first hour of the day. Living in Canada I can't try on any E widths without a major hassle, so I'm happy with what I have.

With what you both have said about it being a bit larger, plus the bit of extra room I already have, I think that going down to a 9.5 D would probably work out well. When I get them down the road I'll report back.

Hey Scotty, I was actually on my way to Montauk so I passed by the outlet in Riverhead.
I was given the impression it is something they just generally do. I didn't even ask about it, i mentioned sometimes buying AE's from Nordstrom. He brought up the sale and then offered to match anything i was interested in.

Yeah, I am hoping that is the case for the stores in the city as well. I gotta head over to the Madison store this afternoon, will check and see what they say.

I was watching those and wanting to get them.  Good to see they went to another SF memeber.

They are in good hands.  Properly cared for with AE shoe trees and Saphir Renovateur smile.gif
