I know he is a fan of Allen Edmonds - I think he has one with the wingtips!

I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for his next shoe?  I think he should go for a brown - he'll be wearing it to work in quite a conservative environment so I think maybe a darker brown.  I think a bit of design would look good too and maybe something sleek!

Wendy J - you sound like an amazing catch. He is lucky to have such a thoughtful woman. It really depends on what he has and what he can use, and also your price point. If your price point is a little higher ($5-600), I think your boyfriend's jaw would hit the floor if he saw a pair of cappuccino cordovan Strands, Cambridges, Fifth Avenues or Park Avenues. If you want to spice things up a bit, I would also recommend emailing Paul Grangaard (the CEO of Allen Edmonds) and seeing if they could do a custom make up for you of a Fifth Street in cappuccino.

It sounds like your relationship will outlast his best pair of cordovan shoes - a rare thing these days!

Yes, that is standard.  The foam insole and the courser stitching are the differences between the LaSalle and the Delray.

Just got the scoop from Brenda at AE and she was very helpful.

She said she has been with AE for over 20 years and she has never heard of the Schautal. She had to do some digging on her computer to find it and you won't find it on the AE web site.

The Schuatal is made only for the Nordstrom Rack and it was introduced in October 2012. It is not a factory second nor is it made in an inferior manner.

It is definitely made in USA from first quality materials. Essentially it is a suede leather MacNeil, double oak sole, etc. on a 97 last (same as #7).

On these she said the final number in the style "5603" does not mean the specific last anymore. She said there are too many lasts now so AE went to double digit numbers to specify the last.

A very nice shoe!

Wow...now that's some customer service. Just another reason I'll keep buying AE.

Thanks for the info dks202 I saw these same shoes at The Rack here in Tampa.

+1 on FA over PA.  The PA are just a little too plain for me.  I like the small amount of broguing.  (ALthough I prefer Strands to either).  I would be very happy with PA's if they only cost, say $39......rotflmao.gif

I'm selling a pair of AE shell cordovan Cambridge in size 13AAA if anybody has that size by chance.  They have only been worn twice.  See the sales threads for more pics.

Maybe. I'm not concerned about the scuffs. It's the size of the right heel cup that gets my attention.

Those are the sleekest looking pair of Park Aves I've ever seen (probably why the width question was asked). Maybe a pair in my size of 10.5 would look as good.

The Strands remind me of my dark brown Fifth Street boots. Love them and they rock with all my suits. Great choices here!

PAs are too plain for me. A little broguing makes it a little more fun to wear.

Just picked these up for 2 bills at the Rack. Called "Links" and they were new to me. Looks like a custom Shelton of sorts, same last I think.

Thanks! Do the PAs usually look clunky otherwise?
