Interestingly, I was originally set on getting them with the V-tread tap soles. However, when I tried on the Park Avenues (which came with the tap soles), the fit was a bit off -- esp. the left shoe. When I tried another pair with the regular leather soles, they fit perfectly. So decided to just get both pairs with leather soles. The SA told me that it's possible that the tap soles slightly changed the shape of the shoes. I think it's also possible that I just tried on a "bad" pair.

Anyway, I know these pairs are not that exciting, but here they are:

Two great business staples.

Jasonmx3, can I ask what width are the shoes? EEE?

I was on the fence between these two as well. In the end, I decided to go with the Park Avenues. After trying the 5th avenues in both black and dark brown, I think I prefer the 5th ave in dark brown.

Yeah, that could be it. I guess I also wasn't really sure if I wanted the tap soles for the PAs. So when the fit of the leather soles came out better, I just went with it.

Hi everyone - new to this forum but I'm going on because I want to find some ideas for a gift for my boyfriend.  We just had our anniversary and his birthday is coming up soon!

I know he is a fan of Allen Edmonds - I think he has one with the wingtips!

I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for his next shoe?  I think he should go for a brown - he'll be wearing it to work in quite a conservative environment so I think maybe a darker brown.  I think a bit of design would look good too and maybe something sleek!

How about the RL Sanderson in Dark Brown? You can get those from the ShoeBank quite often for  ~$159.

These are normally $525.

If those are too "formal" then a nice pair of the Kenwood penny loafers might be a great fit. Those can be had for approximately the same price at the ShoeBank.

I know you're probably wondering what the ShoeBank is. Well, it's AE's outlet and you can find 2nds for amazing prices. Usually the blemish isn't noticeable at all...it's never been on mine.

I'd feel 100% confident giving a gift of shoes from any ShoeBank or AE Outlet.

Any particular reason why fifth avenue over PA?

Can anyone confirm if the LaSalle comes standard with the poron insole? Might have to pick up a pair in chili from the upcoming Nordstrom sale...

That is a great gift idea - I wish somebody would give me some AE's!

I am going to suggest a gift card or take him and let him pick them out. With the different styles, lasts, colors, etc., it might be best to let him pick which one he likes best.

Just my .02 - either way it is a great gift idea.

+1

If he only has one AE shoe, it would be best to take him shopping for his new pair or, if the fit of his current AE is adequate, to buy the same size as long as the new shoe is on the same last. If you can look inside his current shoe to see what the name of it is, we can offer suggestions for his next pair.

EDIT: I don't know how I missed this, but the box has the model name: Schautal. I've never even heard of those. Anyone else?

Just bought the same shoes. It's a new one to me too. No reference on AE site or web search.

I think someone on here mentioned that the Schatuel was made specifically for the German market.

AE Winhall in Brown. With navy suit or gray/navy separate trousers. Yay or Nay?
