Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - Page 1631

Visiting some friends in the States and doing some light hiking this weekend, so I pulled the well-worn Bayfields out of storage and got them buffed and ready to go.

Due to a pricing error on our website, orders received on July 3, 2013,
prior to 1:30pm Eastern Time, for the Allen Edmonds Nathan shoe will not
be filled. We apologize for the error.

Sincerely,

Jos. A. Bank Customer Service

So what are they offering to do as compensation? A smart management team would have understood that simply sending an email explaining a pricing error thus canceling the order would not appease most customers. Why not also include some type of discount towards other merchandise and/or a discount on these exact shoes to make up for their error? Ex. "In lieu of our pricing error, we would like to extend you a special one time discount of 25% off this exact shoe. Please call, and give this promo code to receive your discount. We appreciate your business."

Something like that would go over so much better than just telling us they canceled out orders. Way to JAB, you just made it unappealing for me to do biz with you in the future.

While I would have been stoked to get my three pairs, I don't feel entitled to anything in this case. I doubt they are likely to lose much business simply because the people who jumped all over this deal are unlikely to be regular JAB shoppers anyway, especially those ordering 30 pairs to flip.

These are f-ing gorgeous. I'm seriously starting to regret my Wolverine purchase. I guess I have a decision to make once they arrive.

I have the fifth street boot in chocolate and the Daltons in walnut but those bayfields posted above make me want a pair.  hrmm tempting! but I should probably keep saving for a Cordovan pair of boots.

Grats so some who managed to pick up some great shoes due to the pricing error, short of free pretty hard to beat that value.

I agree with your point. Maybe JAB doesn't want me as their customer anyway because while I buy quality merchandise I'm still a bargain shopper.

In a world where retailers like Walmart exploit their workers at below fair market value and then saddle the taxpayers with the rest of the tab, yet still receive a healthy amount of patronage, you'll have to forgive JAB for not taking people's misplaced indignation seriously. Cash is king.

Serious kudos to the guy who ran to the store for a pricematch before word made it to the physical locations.

Hello Gentlemen, I have a question.

I bought McAllisters and worn them three times. My left shoe is just fine. My right shoe on the other hand makes a weird noise while walking, during the flex to be precise. It's not a squeeking sound to point issues with the leather. I hear air puffing out of the shoe noise and gives a little extra bowing while flexing and making this noise.

Any idea, tips ?

Thanks much.

P.S : I have PAs and they are perfectly fine.

First time posting. I have been following this thread for a while and ordered a pair of Boardroom seconds from Jville. I received it today and notice the straight creases on the left shoe and was wondering if I should return.

Thanks for the insight Spex, let's hope i'll be in a similar situation!

E-mailed the store to get a status update on the shipping and they replied they had to contact the warehouse... it's almost been 3 weeks already and still no updates, this is getting a little too long.

Those who have their walnut shell orders in are lucky. I tried to order a Leeds last week and was told no additional walnut orders are being taken for the time being. They have to wait and see how much leather is left after cutting the current orders. Fingers crossed there is enough for one more pair!

Hi guys,

Quick sizing question , I'm no AE expert and the only shoe I have is a Neumok , I'm looking at buying a PA , and will like to know if I should go with the same size as the Neumok since both shoes are made on the same last , but Neumok is unlined so not sure.

Also is it normal for these to run very narrow ? , I'm normally a D in Alden and other shoes and had to go with a EE on the Neumok , even the E was tight.

Thanks,

I have a pair of snuff suede Neumoks and a pair of bourbon McAllister's (same last and fit as the PA's).  To me, the Neumoks seem slightly 'looser' given that they are unlined.  However, this difference does not seem to justify two different sizes - I wear an 11E in each and the fit is perfect.  On the Brannock device I measure at an 11.5 in between a D and E width with a high instep.  On the AE #5 and #3 last I wear an 11E and the fit is perfect, largely due to my instep.  I tried an 11.5E and it was too loose and caused back pain.  Hope this helps!
