Not sure if this was answered but PA seconds are $199 right now, and I think they'll be $219 or so, during the Anniv sale, for firsts. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. J

I see in the tent sale they are discounted more then their AE cousins. I've read about the differences with the BB versions hence the question.

Different lasts. Quality is the same.

The bad stitching also seems to be in the heel. It will rarely be showing and I would never see it while wearing the shoe. It would not bother me.
+1. I'd keep them

Agree. I think blucher wingtips can look great with a double sole; it's one of my favorite features of my MacNeils. J

Quick question that might seem ridiculous, but I'm a newbie.

Are the shoes coming from the tent sale firsts or seconds?  I would guess they are seconds?... But when I ordered my bourbon Kenilworth, she told me it would take 1-2 weeks (I'm in Canada) because they had to be soled or something (didn't quite catch everything she said as the reception where I was quite bad).

They are seconds. From my personal experience, with the tent sale, buying two pairs of shoes each was shipped from a different location and at a different speed. Perhaps the soles of the shoes you are purchasing were damaged and have to be replaced before shipping? You could always e-mail or call them. I found the shoe bank to be very responsive during business hours.

That does seem like a strange comment, weird.

Tent Sale shoes are seconds.

Sorry, but I guess you missed my original post with which styles and prices were being offered.

Good evening gentlemen,

I have to ask the members of this forum (even senior members) to please not start another pointless argument.

It is really disappointing, especially to newbies like me. The last time there was some "acidity" going on in the forum, I honestly almost quit.

The world is already full of sadness, violence and rage.
Let us all try and please keep these pages as friendly as possible.

I ask this for the sake of our passion for shoes and all the good things in life.

Thank you for reading and understanding,

Max

Yes, it is the nature of a loafer to reply more on the heel than on the upper laced dress shoe.  There are remedies, such as this link:  CLICK HERE

Enjoy your week,

Newbie here, and first off, amazed by this thread.  Love AE shoes, and given their great quality, am not surprised at the many positive comments from the many experts here.

I haven't been able to find this in the forums, and surprisingly haven't had much luck from AE with this question.  I am looking for dress shoes, preferably cap toe, that have a mirror shine but not as much like a patent leather. If you ever had your shoes shined by the guys in the St. Louis airport when TWA was at the end of their run, you'll know what I mean.  Ordered the Park Avenue's but the shine was mediocre.  AE suggested the Strand, but from their site it looks like a similar leather.

Is a mirror shine shoe out of style, am I looking at the wrong model of AEs, or both?  I've had this in the past with AE wing tip shoes, but can't seem to find those either.

Thank you.

It's just personal preference. I would suggest that LWBs and PTBs look better, as a general rule, with double leather soles. Other models too, both those two for sure.

I agree, Max.

Although most stores post their shoes are returnable in new condition, I have personally spoken to one national well know department store where they said - no matter what the condition of the shoes being return, if their sales person was responsible for ill advice or fitting - they would make it right with either a refund or an exchange.

Errrm... This thread is a bit awkward to linger in, but quick question. Will Delray's be included in the Nordstrom sale and would it also be for $219? Thx!

Thank you.

A black shell cordovan model from Alden. The shine is splendid; the effort, minimal. nod[1].gif
