Yes, the 45 dollars for the way to your doorstep are still there...

Depending on where you live, Harry Rosen outlet might be an option. Last weekend I was in Mississauga and found firsts Lasalle for 145 plus taxes.

I appreciate the info about the return costs being covered, I have not seen that anywhere in my research on their site. Not that I looked too hard for it.

In this case however I was asking for the difference between two browns of a discontinued shoe. So while I've been to Brooks Brothers and Harry Rosen here, they don't have what I would need. I absolutely have to make it out to the Harry Rosen outlet still though. Drove right past it on Saturday but couldn't stop.

It seems like on all past sales before I learned about Allen Edmonds shipping was $25 for the first pair to Canada and then increased for each pair of shoes. Does anyone know why the price went up? Cost of doing business? Do they ship with someone else or a faster service now? I almost feel I need to buy more than 1 pair of shoes to make the $45 worth it.

Anyway, I dove into Allen Edmonds head first this month. My first pair was a Mcallister in merlot, along with a Red Sox Sandlot, and a Red Sox Ballpark. I now have a Strand in Walnut on the way. Would have some belts coming too, but they can't transfer the tent sale belts to the warehouse where my Strands are shipping from and I'm not about to pay the $45 shipping fee again on a $39 belt.

I'm in Canada too and pulled the trigger on some Bourbon Kenilworth.  They should be here in 1-2 weeks from what I was told.  I really can't wait.  I'm also hoping the fit will be perfect, tried a very similar model at Harry's but you never know :S...

Love the style, and the fit was superb!  Now I understand the happy reviews.

On sale, the shoes were $225, I thought it a great bargain.  Is it correct that this model is still made in US?  One question:

the sales guy said that AE is now accepting recrafting for soles that are not their own?  He said he was talking to someone

at the company.  This does not sound right to me.  Also, it sounded like Nordstrom offers their own cobbler service, which I would

not really use, but he mentioned it.  All rather odd.

Beautiful shoes!  I love the Player's.  It's a fantastic shoe and it can be consistently purchased at an enormously reasonable price.  Hope you enjoy them.

I will enjoy it thoroughly for the next week or so before Money Well Spent overtakes me.  Don't know how he does it, but, in less than a year's time, MWS has beaten me in both quality and quantity.

Wow!  I honestly didn't even know I had that many posts in this thread.  Thanks for the kind words. shog[1].gif

Good news is coming to Canada next year when Nordstroms will be opening the first of five (5) Canadian stores, starting in the Fall.  Free shipping both ways, plus they can order anything a local store does not have in stock.  Perhaps AE will follow suit and open their own Canadian store or outlet.

In the meantime, the Canadian Dollar has weakened against the US Dollar a bit, and the forecast may or may not be worse for use of Canadian dollars.  I recall when my US dollar of $1.00 got $1.25 in Canadian goods.  This may be a part of raising some costs.

If AE is charging $45, you may want to go with a US based Nordstroms store which will charge you $35 to ship directly to you with the guarantees of returns.

There is also a fabulous sale coming up in a few weeks with top styles at 35% off regular retail at one of the AE major retailers.  That would certainly pay for the extra shipping.

My best to you,

David

Question was asked about the Dalton for dress or casual.

Here are some sample photos:

Shipping to Canada is actually coming up at $10 for a pair of Strands and $15 for the faster shipping method. When the 35% hits that will be a really good deal for us Canadians. Thank you very much.

David,

I am a bit newer to this thread. Do you work for Nordstrom? You seem to push them pretty hard as well as have some inside info. Just curious. Thanks.

Yes, the shoes in your link are McAllisters, but Polojock is correct about the gentleman's photos being of Player's shoes.

Here are my new Walnut Shell Dundee's.... Color is actually more even between the 2 shoes than the photos suggest.... i really like the appearance of the burnishing on the toes....

Thanks to Paul for the MTO program and a special thank you to Allison at AE for fantastic during the process.

In term of shipping to Canada, my experience is: $45 from AE website; $25 from the Shoebank.

David, you've been talking this sale up for days now; not only here but on the other thread you started which has since been deleted.

For everyone's sake, can you please either provide the details or refrain from mentioning it again until it's current? Thanks
