nothing to really compare. My McAllister are 8 3E and these are 8.5 3E. The store suggested I go up slightly.

Just received pair of Yumas but back they go. I just don't love them...even at $99. I'd rather pay an extra $100 and exchange them for dark brown Long Branch, which is what I'm gonna do.

I don't plan on buying Dalton's as I like my boots to look/perform rugged so should I pair my gray Branch's with the dark brown or waxy brown??

it may take a day or so to receive the email confirmation. my last order, I think it was the next business day for tracking info etc

Such a pain to pay for the return shipping though. But I guess if you don't love them, then don't keep them.

Same here torn between the 2. In my opinion I think you'll get more mileage on the dark brown however the waxy brown is more striking. Aside, I believe the 2Q cost $279.

Last month I got some Amoks (firsts) in the Snuff. Super-comfortable--like wearing socks with soles. Like them some much, I got some in Tan also. Neither of them squeak either. These came with tan and red/pink laces. The tan didn't look right, so I tried the pink. Definitely gonna have to buy some new laces:

Anyhow, here's my dilemma. I received my shell color samples so I could decide whether to get Truffle or Walnut for my MTO Kenilworths. Decided on the Truffle, but never having shell before I got so worked up I decided I had to have some shell now. I usually wear 12E in the 1, 8 and 4 lasts, but there were none available as seconds in Leeds or Dundee. They did have Burgundy Leeds in 12EE so I bought them for $381. The problem is they're too loose. I know from fondling my two samples that the shell will get softer. How will longer term wear affect shell? They're extra extra roomy in the toe box and I get some heel slippage now, but I know the heel slippage will subside some when the soles soften from break in. I have already snugged the laces and strolled the house on the carpet but the looseness bothers me. Will they get much looser after break in? $200 off on shell is a great deal and I have them now instead of 6-8 weeks, but spending $381 on shoes that I won't wear much because the don't feel right isn't a such a great deal. I thought about wearing them on the carpet for to see how they feel after a bit of wear, but I would hate to have them develop the creases based on my feet if I'm gonna end up returning. Any recommendations?

Shell or not, it sounds like the Leeds don't fit.  I don't have any shell make ups.  However, I do have a couple pair of shoes that are just a little bit too big for my feet (in terms of volume).  They will loosen up a little bit.  That's a result of bending and flexing the leather.  And your feet will sink into the shoe a little bit too as the cork miidsole conforms to your foot.  I can't quantify the amount of change.  I can only tell you that shoes loosen with wear to some degree.

By all means, wear them around the house for a few days (maybe use shoe covers).  You made one statement that I would like to emphasize

"but spending $381 on shoes that I won't wear much because the don't feel right isn't a such a great deal."

To thine own self be true, you have to be happy with the purchase.  If you have doubts, you'll think about them everytime you put those shoes on.

K so my dark brown Long Branch are on their way. Used the 20% off amazon coupon and scored 1sts for $200 + $18 tax. Cheaper then buying 2nds from AE.

I assume that the bottom photo is concerning the "dents" in the lip of the split-reverse welt.  Again, this is completely cosmetic and has nothing to do with durability.  You could probably even smooth it out to a large degree using a soft, blunt object such as a pencil eraser.

As kmdsimpson said, "defects" in the area of the shoe what will be worn out and replaced at their first recrafting are the best kind to have, since you won't have to live with them for the life of the shoe.

Thanks (to you and kmdsimpson) for the talking down. There are a few minor marks on the uppers, but nothing that can't be mitigated with some polishing. so now I have some proper perspective, as I paid only 170 for these...

On another note, currently trying to talk myself out of buying the neon navy suede strandmoks. Do any of y'all have this shoe? What do you normally wear it with?

I've been emailing with one of the AE shoe outlets and I asked specifically about free shipping both ways and the responder said that it was free shipping both ways as long as it was within the US. Is this not true?

Yes, for the moment. The lady at Shoe Bank told me that it's going to change soon.

For me, fit is key. Down the road, saving a few bucks will not make the shoes fit any better. I would pass on them.

Has anyone ordered the tan Saunders which I assume are from the Ralph Lauren line? If so, how is the color relative to AE walnut?
