Just got off the phone with the shoe bank, they were very helpful (despite not having exactly what I was hoping for).

Wanted the Lasalle in Chili and the Firenze in brown (for something a bit more casual) but they didn't have the Firenze in my size. My backup was the 5th ave in Brown, which they thought they had one of at another store, but that store hadn't opened yet. They offered to call me back after they checked to make sure it was available when the store opened.

They called back with the unfortunate news that the 5th ave was already reserved for someone else (probably one of you - who's the 10.5E??)

So he started talking me through the other options. I already have strands in walnut so I was hoping to get something in brown to have a walnut, chili, and brown pair, but my options were dwindling. I told him I wasn't really looking for something in black right now, but then he mentioned that he could do the Randolph loafer in Burgundy, which I jumped on. It's not listed as one of the on-sale items, and I'm not sure whether he did it for me because they didn't have what I was originally looking for from the list or if it's something they might do for others, but I certainly appreciated the gesture regardless of the reason.

So for ~$360 all in I'll have Lasalle's in Chili, Randolph's in Burgandy, and trees and polish for both. Pretty excited about it.

The 5 last is the only one I've worn before from AE so I'm hopeful that I don't have issues with the 8 or 9 keeping the same size. Any reason to be worried?

There is always a risk when not trying the shoe in person. But hopefully things work out for you.

Nicely done- glad they could help you. I haven't tried anything on the 8 last, but for what it's worth I wear 12D true to size in the 5, 7 and 9 lasts. The Randolphs are great loafers - I have a burgundy shell pair and I'm contemplating a pair in black.

Just got an order in for my first pair of AE's. Fifth Avenue in black and brown. I've never worn anything other than cheap Aldo level dress shoes so I'm quite excited. Hopefully they'll fit per the measurement chart.

Ive got the Cliftons on the 8 last as well as the Lasalle's and the Fifth Aves on the 5. 8 last runs a bit roomier, but just a bit, and I found the sizing to be pretty standard

Thanks guys, sounds like I should be in pretty good shape. the 10.5E fits me pretty much perfectly on the 5, but if they 8 or 9 fit any smaller I might be in trouble. Slightly roomier shouldn't be a problem. Now I'm even more excited.

If your concern is the 8 last being narrower, that definitely wont be a problem. The 5 last is their narrower last, and although their website appears to be down now, if you check out their last descriptions, I believe the 8 last is described as one of the fullest.

+1. Totally agree on the 8. I have Cliftons, MacNeils (7), and RL Sanderson that I think are on the 2-222/Executive last (also had the Lombard on the 2-222). The MacNeil is most "true to size"; the Clifton fits larger; 2-222 is narrow.

Why doesn't AE update the last description on their site? It is so out of date now.

Despite everybody ignoring my noob questions

, I was able to get in touch with the shoe bank and place and order for the strands in walnut and the Clifton's in black 8.5D. Hopefully the blemishes won't be too noticeable.

Don't worry about it, I never get my questions answered either. Never did find out who makes the Italian collection & Seven collection shoes for AE...

Glad to hear you were able to figure it out - sorry no one answered your question (I certainly could have if I hadn't been too lazy to go find the phone number again - sorry), but I've found that in 90% of cases where a question gets ignored on SF, the implied answer is "use the search function."

The remaining 10 percent is some mix of "no one knows," "no one cares," or "we don't like you."

Hey guys.. newb here. I recently picked up the Dalton boot from amazon. Love them. Unfortunately, BF took a toll on me which prevented me from the Bayfield. Just wanted to know, how often do Bayfield boots (Seconds are fine imo) come towards the $150 price range? if at all.

May aim for Strand + Fifths from this sale to make up for the failure lol. Strand look great with grey from that picture.

I don't think you'll see them discounted that deeply too often... "First Quality" pricing on the Bayfield is $350, I bet "seconds" pricing is in the $250-275 range and seconds sale at 25-40% off of that. Maybe another sale in the spring on the boots (end of season-type)?

FYI This 2/$300 sale is supposed to end 12/11... so plan your purchasing decisions accordingly...

And good choices! I have the Strand in shell and it's one of my favorite shoes - I'd recommend a lighter color, not black. The 5th Avenue is one of the most classic designs out there, a punch-cap balmoral - great in dark brown or in black.
