Just received my black McTavish pre-loved from eBay. Overall I'm happy with the condition of the shoes, especially for the $100 I paid. Few questions though for those that own Mctavish:
As you might see in the pics I feel like the back of the shoe doesn't hug my heel. When I walk my heel does not pop out at all but the side and back areas of my ankle doesn't feel like the leather is hugging it, if I'm making sense. Could this be because they were worn by someone else and in time the leather will form to my foot shape? Maybe I should try on a 9.5 or instead of 10D get a little narrower shoe or maybe it's just the way they fit. Please advise

You have no gap in your lacing and a visible gap around your heel.  I would try 1/2 size down.

Satisfied purchase, glad I took advantage of the sale.

Was it the Dodgers' logo or some other defect that made them seconds?  nest.gif

make your choice based on color
v-tread v. no v-tread is secondary IMO

Thanks! I do really like them when I can get by with a little bit more casual wear.

I kind of regret not getting the Daltons in chilli during the anniversary sale..

I'd go with the Freudian slip myself... ;-)

Hope SouthNarc doesn't mind but if you can still find a pair of brown Fifth Street's I would if I were you, and I love mine.

In any event yes I feel the brown 5th Ave. would fit perfectly into your collection and is my next calf purchase.

Looking good Pastor! When the chance comes again I will pick up the burgundy to go with my brown.

I don't tuck the jeans in. A few months ago I tried that but it looked stupid on me (I'm short, only 5'3")

I only wear them with jeans and tshirts, polots, shirts, etc. Basically worn with any outfit that has jeans in it. It's great for any kind of outdoorsy activity too.

I have both, the merlot calf with the V-tread, and brown shell with standard. Love them both. The V-tread is nice for days when it may have rained and the ground is wet, so I don't get the soles all wet. I would base your decision on what color you want, not the sole.

With all the advertisements and sales form Brooks Bros regarding the Great Gadsby, and the new AE Webgems with a roaring 20s theme, I felt like wearing my White/Walnut AE Hamptons today. Not something I normally would wear with jeans, but it is Friday and it worked out ok.

No, I'm a glutton for punishment (Cubs fan); just couldn't resist the opening.

I forwarded that scan to J'ville and got this back:

This does not apply to closeouts and discontinues

I guess I'm confused.

Is there a list of all the models AE makes for BB and RL? Or do I have to check their websites for any shoes that are expressly listed as "by Allen Edmonds"?

Also, what last is the brown BB captoe made on? 159 seems like a good deal...

^I called J'ville outlet and asked for a current list of all seconds and closeouts in a 10D and the list pretty much had all the BB and RL shoe models listed. That may help you.
