Eat up!  Filet de Chevaline.  We need a new name to get more market uptake.  Perhaps 'fragrant lean meat' to paraphrase Chinese...for dog.

Is this really just Color 8 or actually some custom dyed color: http://shop.freemanssportingclub.com/products/ae-x-fsc-kenilworth?  They call it "cherry" cordovan.

Thanks for finding and posting that kentyman!

My first thought was the same as yours and dancingbear. I still do not own a LWB shog[1].gif But not sure how the 7 last fits me. The 8 last just does not fit me at all despite several people saying it is their best fitting last. So I was afraid to take a chance. If I thought it did then I would have the MacNeil made in Dark Brown shell which from what someone said the other day is almost identical to Alden Cigar. But I want to get the MacNeil in burgundy shell first.

Yes and they have some walnut and cappuccino but very limited and no more available at this time. And of course the standard burgundy, brown, and black are available. When she said that she would send me a swatch of walnut and cappuccino I told her there was no need to as I still had the one she sent from last July. But they want each of us to know exactly what the color will look like because of the variations that exist in these more exotic colors. They will cut a piece out of a hide to send us and mark the hide to match so that when you get your shoes it will be an identical match. One of the things I like about AE is the attention to detail which helps in customer satisfaction IMO.

All 3 boots and shoes from Left to Right are walnut shell. But you can see the difference in color between them. Time plays a roll in color too as the lighter shell ages it tends to darken IME.

I am looking to get a blucher (probably wingtip) and later on in the year a boot (most likely the Dalton). After that, I may get 1 pair of burgundy shoes. And that's it. I don't plan on buying more shoes for years. I started lurking SF in 2011 and I've only purchased those 3 shoes so far so trust me when I say I am patient and not trigger-happy with my wallet. I just want to have my bases covered at an affordable cost.

I work in a business casual environment and would like, in order of importance, for my shoes to pair with: 1. slacks/wool pants 2. jeans 3. suits 4. chinos. For my next shoe I was thinking of getting the Walnut Player (Shoebank has 1 left in my size as of today). I only want 1 walnut shoe. So considering that I plan on getting the Dalton in the future, would that be a better choice for my walnut shoe? I just don't see walnut as being very versatile but it would help to have a tan shoe in my wardrobe. I know the walnut Strand is considered one of the best AE shoes but I don't want to get another balmoral.

KTown, great strategy.

I would also vote for the Players in walnut - to me, it is the best looking walnut calf shoe. However, be aware that it runs very narrow, as it on the 2 last. Plan on possibly having to return them if they don't fit.

You can however thank me as you see Mr. Grangaard responding to me, something which most all of you have stated you want to see more of, right?

You've made your point. Mr. Grangaard responded. You clearly don't agree with that response. Do you think that if you keep calling him out that he will eventually agree with you and change their website at your request? Or do you so crave the attention that you simply can't help but respond by repeating the same point followed with cries of bullying?

In a sea of attention seekers (myself included) you stand out as someone who craves attention. It seems sad. You should get a hobby...or write a manifesto.

Or maybe he will actually answer the question rather than try to skirt around it as he has.

After seeing Cold Iron's incredible shell Dundee collection and also the shell Kenilworths, I've worked myself into a mental frenzy about seeing about Paul's generous SF offer for custom shoes. I am hoping they'll be able to do a cappuccino shell Kenilworth or the darker walnut shell. 12E seems to give me the best overall fit in the 5-last and also on the 8-last (Vernon). But I've seen a few mentions that the Kenilworth runs a little large. Since they are MTO and this is a one shot deal, do you recommend I stick with 12E or should I go 11 1/2E?

Any suggestions? Thank you.

Added a Vernon on the right to my wholecut Allen Edmonds collection. There some wholecut classics out there that I still wish I could get my hands on!

I had to go one width up vs the 5 last on these, as the D width was just way too narrow

AE still offers the Dundee which is a chukka. And a man can never have too many shell chukka's IMO:

Although the colors are more limited now. If a suede Dundee comes out in snuff I am all over it.

What is the break-down again on the above colors?  Clockwise - cappuccino, brown, burgundy, black, and walnut?

WOW! You have wanted those for years Adam, congratulations!! I'm really excited for you, that is awesome.

Now you do know that due to your foot size you are well outside the range of Gunboats. In fact I think your in Aircraft territory here, something like the USS America:

****JPEG Compressor Copyright (C) 1991-1997 STOIK Software Ltd.****

Taking her through that ditch in the sand known as the Suez Canal on the way to fly sorties in Desert Shield which turned into Desert Storm. She was the finest ship to ever sail and with a name like America she had damn well better be. Just as I'm sure your USS (United States Shoe) MacNeil's will be the finest shoes you will soon own. Congratulations once again, Bravo Zulu.

For your reference, I am an 9.5E in the 5 and the 7 last.  The length is very good in both, the 7 is just a touch more generous in the ball of the foot, which I actually prefer (the 5 last is pretty snug).  I wear a 10D in the 1 last, but i'm sure a 9.5E would fit in that last as well.
