If you are referring to the cedar rack, I have read a few of the reviews and they suggest buying an alternative.

Their shoe trees are made by Allen Edmonds from what I remember another member mentioning. Or whoever makes them for AE, I think woodlore.

Those with burnished walnut (as in the Daltons), what Saphir polish (creme or wax) do you all use or suggest?

I was at an AE store for an exchange today and the SA mentioned that the Fifth Street would be offered in black, brown, and burg cordovan in the next few days. My guess is it may be their next web gem if this is true.

Has anyone else heard this too?

If this is true, it will make for a hard decision for me as I was set on getting a pair of Daltons in burg cordovan when they released them according to the sneak peek catalog pictures that were shared earlier in the thread.
I would now definitely lean towards a burg or black cordovan Fifth instead of the Dalton.

Can anyone advise me in regards to sizing on the Dalton? I have an Elgin in 10.5 D which fits me well with thicker socks, but I reckon I could wear one in 10 D with no problems and that it would fit me a little better. Since the rough collection supposedly runs a little large due to the leather, my normal size in a 5 last shoe (the ones made of calfskin) would indeed be a 10.5 D. How does the Dalton compare in size to the 5 last shoes?

I'm sorry for the confusion, but I live in Brazil and trying on returning a shoe are really not viable options.

Quote: Here are my sizes:
- park ave & strand: 9.5E
- mctavish 9E
- dalton (recently purchased) 10D - I would have gotten a 9.5E but since they did not have that size in seconds they is why I went with the 10D

from what I read prior to purchasing my daltons most found it to be TTS

I found them to be tts, and the same size as my park avenues and strands.

About 25 of them in various places in the house. My experience with them has been good, and the price at by1get2free is ridiculous. I've never paid more than 1/2 price, as I recall.

anyone have JAB shoe racks? They currently have buy 1 get 3 free sale and these seem to be included.

Just bought 3 cedar shoe trees for $25 with this deal. Amazing deal! As far as I can tell they are the same Woodlore shoe trees sold by AE.

I have Elgins in an 8.5D that do seem to be a tiny bit long; same with the McTavish. My Strands, Cambridge, and McAllisters on the 5 last in an 8E seem to be more snug. But, I wear the Elgin mostly with casual (thicker) cotton socks and the Strands with dress (thinner) socks. In all, they all work great with the socks I wear them with.

I had received a pair of calf skin Daltons in a 9D as a gift. After trying thick socks, double socks, etc. (definitely too long and a bit wide) I exchanged for a 8.5D and it was a perfect fit.
I think the higher lacing may help if the boot is a little long to keep your foot back and in the shoe. I did not try a 8E in the Dalton as I was satisfied with the fit of the 8.5D.

In terms of foot room and play, I would rank them: Calf 5 last Strand in 8E (snug, least amount of play), Calf 1 last Dalton in 8.5D (some play), Calf 5 last Elgin in 8.5D (most amount of play)... but all fit.

I'm an 11B in the 5 last (Strand) and an 11B in the 1 last (Dalton, Bayfield).
