when browsing, I also came across a wholecut loafer. I've been waiting for a sleek wholecut loafer for a while now.... not really sold on the stitching though

Sorry if this question has already been asked, but for those who have them, what has been your experience with the AE combination tap soles? Did they substantially increase the longevity of your AE's soles?

 

I do a fair amount of walking to and from work (a little less than a kilometer/half mile each way from the station to the office), and I also encounter the occasional rain.

I wear a 7D. If they were my size and not defective, I'd be snapping up those "Spiaggia" or whatever they decide to call them (the other pair I saw was labeled as McAllister on the sock liner/insole).

EDIT: Oh, no, I misread.

I saw the white suede's when I was in the Denver AE store this past weekend. They look awesome but I'm not sure I can be trusted with white shoes.

 

I snagged a pair of black shell McGraws as part of the 2 x $250.  Got them today and cannot find any defective whatsoever other than the right shoe is slightly larger than the left shoe, but I've found that's often the case with AE's--I recently received a pair of new Fifth Streets with the same issue.

I really don’t need any more loafers. Have 3 pairs penny loafers– rl black calf, Marlow brown shell and c&j snuff suede and 2 tassels – AE Grayson merlot calf and Marlow brown shell. I am waiting to see the Mora double monk. My left foot(EE) is wider than my right(D) !

Those are indeed the ones I saw today.  They look pretty stunning in person, and the navy version looks just as spectacular.  Since they are showing up in stores in Denver and San Francisco, I'd assume they are going to pop up online soon?  And if you really want a pair now, I'm sure giving the SF branch a ring would yield good results.

For the last few years I have been buying a pair or maybe two of AE shoes per year. then a few months ago I found this incredible thread and I've been silently creeping around (lurking?) whilst developing a full blown addiction,. In the last six months, I've bought six pairs, I have a pair of black and orange Neumoks I'm awaiting and plan on getting the purple Strands as soon as those arrive. I don't see any way of getting this monkey off my back, nor do I particularly want such to occur. except...

I'm having problems with their customer service. I have a problem with a pair of Fifth St. Boots I originally ordered with tap soles in Sept. they finally arrived the last week of December, I wore them thrice and both heels started to separate. I called, they said send them back. AE said problem with the glue, they'll replace the heels and return them to me. I got them back in mid Feb and for some reason they sent them to recrafting and they came back with whole new soles and were stamped with the recrafting hammer. Ok, whatever. However while shaping the new soles, they hit the leather upper with the sander or the grinder and put a little over a one inch gash in it.



I called immediately, again they said send 'me back. I sent them back three weeks ago and never heard anything back, so I called yesterday. I was told they were sent to Beth, apparently they've been sitting in her que unopened for over two weeks and she opened the box while I was on the phone. She said yeah they are unrepairable. She then laughed and said it looks like a rug burn. She might find the damage that was done to my shoes and the shitty way no one would admit it amusing, but I sure don't [note: even though her CS skills are sub par, I hope her knees don't look anything like my footwear]. She said I can pick some other replacement shoe, I said I'd still like some 5th streets. She then told me that since these are MTO that t would be 6-8 weeks until they are made. I said what about my tap soles? She then told me it would take even longer then since now it's a "custom" order. Really, what the hells' the difference between MTO and custom?

Anyhow, I said just make them which ever way would be quickest--normal--and give me a credit for the tap soles I originally paid for and I'll use them on my next shoes. She then said that was not possible. I'm now about SIX months from originally ordering and will have to wait another two months! I keep reading about AE's exceptional customer, but I must be jinxed or something. I understand accidents happen, such as with the heels and then again with cutting the upper. But on the uppers, it was readily obvious and rather than letting me know, they just send them back to me. Then when I call, I get the arrogance again, like I was the one who had done something wrong. Not once has anybody there apologized for any of these. From the time I originally ordered, if I'm lucky it will be eight months.

I sent an email to the customer service email and also to the cacmail address yesterday about all this with the subject line: "unhappy customer" hoping for a better resolution, but no reply. The last time I had major issues and I wasn't getting any response, I finally I copied my email to their Facebook page and lo and behold I got to experience their fantastic customer service the very next morning. I was hoping to avoid that this time around with the subject line, but it appears to not be working. I really like their shoes but I'll be damned if I'll continue to support a company that treats me the way they have. Perhaps, might anyone have an email address for someone so that I might get some help rather than to have to go the FB route again. Thank you much!

Thanks for your comments. They help me put this one to bed. I've got enough new shoes to enjoy anyway; 6 new pairs in the last month.

Greetings. I am having customer service issues with AE. I've sent emails to both the customer service email address and the cacmail address, with no reply from either. The last time, I failed to receive AE's fabled top notch customer service, I finally resorted to posting my issue on the Facebook page for a next day reply. I'd prefer not having to air my complaints in public if avoidable, though I have no qualms about doing so.

 

might anyone here be able to help me by providing and email address for someone higher up so that I may seek resolution. Thank you much.

ps this thread is seriously bad-ass. I was a once a year AE shoe buyer, but after creeping around for for a few months, I've now up to six pairs in six months. 

 

pps I first typed up my whole problem but it vanished after hitting reply. part of it stems from no matter how many times they screw up, they remain arrogant as if their mistakes were my fault and also that they never apologize and I'm literally at six months on the same thing and it looks like it will be at least two more before it gets resolved. 

 

 

I call upon you AE enthusiasts to try and see the new golf shoe styles that are coming out.  Can't wait until March 28th haha.
