I apologize in advance if this question has been asked and answered before... Have any of you bought new AE shoes from either of these ebay sellers/stores... peteshoesinc or qualityshoebrands?  Both usually sell AE at nice prices shipping included and tax free.  If so, are they usually in proper NIB shape?  1st quality?  I'm looking to pull the trigger on a pair of walnut strands.  Both sellers usually put them on sale for around $275-295.  Was wondering if any of y'all have had positive experiences.  Thanks!

I own the Aberdeen in smokey grey leather, rather than the McTavish, but my suggestions should apply equally well to both. The Johnston & Murphy charcoal grey suede belt that I purchased a few years ago is no longer available, but I also recently purchased the following slate grey tumbled leather number by Torino:



That belt is available direct from the manufacturer, as well as via Zappos, Sherman Brothers, and a few other sites. Torino also makes a grey suede belt that'd likely work, too.

I've also seen a couple Remo Tulliani suede/nubuck belts on Shoebuy.com in similar color tones.


I applied Renovateur and neutral Saphir polish to my Aberdeens when they arrived, so they immediately lost the "chalky" look they shipped with. Instead, they're darker than the AE stock photos, with a good amount of color variation across a range of grey tones. Just about any belt in that range should work well, in my opinion.

I use the natural AE edge dressing. Works for all colours IMO.

But if you have scuffed the edge and need to replace the color, natural does nothing. Chili matches the color pretty well.

I just got a sneak peek at the AE Fall 2013 collection. I can't disclose any details and I cannot guaranty all these will make it to production, but here are some of the things I am seeing.

several new loafers - some distressed, some not
new boat style shoe - looks very nice
lots of grain leather options
some new monks - double and single
some new lasts
a wholecut
some bold new colors and finishes
more suede (I was personally glad to see that)
several new boots
some mixed materials - fabrics/leathers
a couple of new Indendence Line options - maybe including a boot?

I will be eagerly awaiting this!  Did you really mean Fall 2013 and not Spring?  I wonder if this means that the Spring collection is pretty much what we have already seen.  Bummer...

These guys better bring the boots, and soon.... I'm likely to fill my void with Alden soon if they don't!

Yes, Fall 2013. Some of the Spring 2013 I saw late last year is out, but there are still some I saw that have not been released yet. I'm thinking you will see some more new styles trickle out for the next month or so.

PSA: For anyone who wishes they had bought the Elgin, Brooks Brothers seems to have restocked on most of the sizes of their version.

Black Park Avenue today:

AE/Wolverine Krause boots today. Does anyone who has these feel they are a bit imbalanced? It seems the heel is a little high for the sole. Or the sole should be thicker. I do like the leather on these casual boots.
