Let's try this again. What size foot do you have? No I will not sell you mine. But if you are the correct size I will give them to you. Nothing wrong with them but there is only so much room in the closet. And I almost never wear them, have only wore them a few times.

 

Like I said Bison leather is tough, it can handle it. But they are unlined and uninsulated so if you want to wear them when it is colder you will want to size up and wear thicker socks. And they are snug to start with. Of course the meaning of cold depends on where you live. And it averages almost 20 degrees colder per day in January here in Mn. than it does in upstate NY. NYC I'm sure it is even more.

So the heels on my Strawfut were separating.  Sent them to AE and they redid them.  They even sent me pics!

I'm a size 8D, which is probably smaller than what you have.

 

Anyways, I'm glad that the Bison leather can handle the conditions. I don't really wear thick socks so a snug fit would be much appreciated. I have some boots now which are pretty thin and my feet are rarely cold so I should be fine. Thanks for sharing your experiences and for the offer.

If you're interested in giving them away I'm a size 10.5D, as long as he doesn't want them of course. Trying to build a small selection of shoes for myself. If not then forget I asked.

Dang it I'm the most common size in men's shoes. I just want them to go to a good home and there is no doubt in my mind you would do that. 

 

Most exotic leather experts recommend Venetian Shoe Cream for Bison. I don't care for how hard it is to get VC out of the pebble leather so use Obenauf's leather oil. I have used Obenhauf's HDLP on my BB bison boots but it is hard to get it into the leather, it leaves a white residue on top much like VC. I use saddle soap to clean Bison when really bad but just a damp cloth works 99% of the time. If you get salt on them use a mix of white vinegar and water to wipe then clean with a damp cloth.

 

They don't have much tread on them they are more a city or desert tread. They are made in the DR and the 2 tone on mine was poorly done so I took them to my cobbler and had him dye them solid dark brown. The Nordstrom version is a solid color like that, not two tone. Good luck what ever you decide to get.

Thanks once again! I'm a bit worried about the tread part though. A few times, there were some surprise showers and my BB Strand's were way too slippery even though it was half leather/ rubber. I even had the unpleasant experience on falling on my ass. Here's hoping that the city tread is formidable against the forces of nature.

Been pretty dry here - no snow or rain - so I was thinking of getting my Wolverine 744's ready for their inaugural spin outdoors. Just used a little bit of Venetian Shoe Cream. It did a nice job of moisturizing and shining them up.

I just used a cloth to apply the cream, then buffed with an old cotton sock (putting the sock over my hand), then hit with the brush. I use rubber gloves so as not to absorb the cream through my skin.

Can't really tell from these pictures, as it's night time here, but it worked well. The right boot in the photo (left in real life) has been duller than the left, as you can see on the captoe. I haven't been able to get it to shine up yet.

I've only worn them twice for approximately 10 hours total. The tightness is in the overall midsection of my feet. It's especially tight in the area behind the first pinky joint but in front of the heel, the spot that's directly across from the arch. Do park avenues in black calf stretch in those areas? If not, would a cobbler be able to fix it?

I'd really like to hear a solution to this. I have the exact same problem with my fifth avenues, the shoes get so uncomfortable by the end of the day that I'm considering getting rid of them if I can't figure anything else out.

First off, I'd like to say hello to everyone. So much info here and I'm thankful for that. I'm an AE newb and thanks to this thread I purchased a few pairs during the sale. I just received my black Delrays and wanted to get an opinion from the experts here. They are seconds and as such have a noticeable flaw that I'm trying to determine whether to just deal with it or send back. The stitching on the left heel is way slanted and off center. I'm sure nobody would ever notice but if you received these, would you keep them? Thanks again for your time.

What exactly can you wear grey with anyway? Do they look good with jeans and such? Considering buying a pair since they're on clearance. 

 

Personally, I would not return them. If that is the only flaw that you can find, then I think you found a great pair of seconds - as long as that slanted stitching isn't causing any integrity issues (i.e. the stiches are coming undone or loose). How often do you honestly look at the heel of a shoe anyways?

 

If this stitching had been on the toe of the Delray, then I would definitely send them back. But a little assymetrical stiching on the heel wont harm anyone.

^ The balance just doesn't seem right. It might straighten out after a fair amount of wear though. Does it feel okay when you walk in them?
