Gentlemen,

I've fallen for a pair of New Orleans. My first pair of AE no less.
But I'm concerned that they don't jive with a navy suit. Any votes yay or nay would be appreciated.
It's a fairly dark navy. The flash makes it appear lighter than it is.

I don't mind walnut with dark navy, and I think the New Orleans would look great with a navy summer suit in cotton or linen. I'm not digging it with navy worsted wool in December though. To me, the New Orleans is a spring/summer shoe. If you're going to wear it in the Fall, I'd try pairing it with light grey. People in the real world (who don't spend way to much time on internet style forums) will probably think the combo looks fine and just notice that you're wearing nice shoes.

Thanks, Reid. It's still 80 degrees here in FL but I hear what you're saying. They'll be great in April. Maybe channel my inner colonel Sanders with some white on white.
The same navy suit with black bals was fine. Just looked more formal than what i wanted. Not nearly the eye magnet either...

Back on track, here are a few other things I saw while at the outlet today.  (p.s. if anyone wants a 2 oz container of venetian shoe cream, they carry them at the Jeffersonville outlet.  $5 I think (?)  but I imagine free shipping if you're buying something.  I picked up a bottle to try.

First,a couple AE for Wolverine boots.  (they don't have any shell seconds, I asked).

700

Not so much.... (Click to show)

and, some interesting AE for wolverine shoes (they had a similar one, but with black grain leather rather than red, you can see it in the above picture):

700

Gray boots, as requested:

700

(they also had the other two brown colors in stock, in seconds)

Finally, some AE for Ralph Lauren boots.  Supposedly there are LOTS of these available, in most sizes.  I didn't ask the price.  I do like the eyelet rather than speedhook at the top.

700

Lots of options if you're looking for unique boots.

Thanks bucksfan, once again I think smile.gif The 744 LTD are some of the most comfortable boots I own. The Krause in russet are a great find, the tan I haven't seen yet. Owning 3 pairs of AE shoes in dublin leather it is very tempting... Myself I prefer the speed hooks at the top. The full laces of my RW black cherry Beckman's are a bit of a pain IMO, but that is only my personal preference. Going to have to make a call in the morning, fingers crossed that they have them in my size!!

Thanks for posting.  What was your opinion of the rough grey leather up close in person?

Anytime, well not really but I'll help when I can.

I don't like it, I prefer the boot in brown. I think they gray for this particular boot is just a bit off but I'm sure some of you can pull it off.

I would go with the brown version, or buy the Bayfield from lands end. I would buy it but I need a narrower width.

The leather is soft and definitely casual though.

Ha! I thought that was your home at first, and I thought it was interesting you had so many grey shoes. But then I realized it's the store.

lol I don't think sale signs serve decorative purposes.

You're welcome, someone posted a link that had them for 258 but I can't find it again.

Can I buy these somewhere online? These are very nice, they remind me of the Alden captoe Shell boots, color #8 (Unfortunately I can't afford a 700 dollar pair of boots right now)

Ok, scratch that, I just read BootSpell's comment, "Those AE for Wolverine boots look quite nice.  I think those are what Wolverine calls the Krause (around $495 I think).  Do you know what they were asking for them?  Thanks for posting the pics."

They are currently 550$, though.

They will be much less through the outlet discussed above.

New Chili Grain Randolph's today.  Rocking my houndstooth socks today too, in honor of Bama and the SEC Championship game tomorrow.

I missed this before - nice shoes!  How do you find they fit?  Some people find they are tight in the vamp, but especially in calfskin, they do stretch over time.

I just heard from the manager - the Wolverine boots pictured are $159 at the Jeffersonville AE outlet.  icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gifdevil.gif
