I was thinking the same thing.  Almost sounds more like a prank, and your next door neighbor is going to show up at your house wearing your shoes tonight as a joke or something.  What kind of a thief waits around at the scene of a crime long enough to open the package?

Heh, i sent an email to the blockwatch group saying the incident happened and if anyone saw anything to contact me. I'd be very surprised, but very happy, as unlikely as it is.

I suspect that in broad daylight, the difference would be much more obvious. But sitting on a shelf in a store under "mood" lighting (i.e. not fluorescents), the black and dark brown looked very similar at first glance. Now that I think of it, they weren't Delrays but a different AE shoe that I used for colour comparison purposes (I don't think the Delrays come in dark brown).

It actually raises an interesting point, in that shoe colours can look radically different in different light settings. I suppose the same is true for all clothing.

The tracking service says delivered at a specific time, I arrived home 30 minutes after that time. Maybe the delivery time is not accurate, but it is all the information I have. I've sent off some emails, but the initial indication is that since the postal service marked it as delivered, it is no longer their problem (which i understand). I am also usually very good at getting items delivered to my work, but fucked up this once. Ah well, live and learn.

You will get nowhere with the post office.  Deal directly with AE on this.  We had an awful mailman for a period of time and only got about half of our packages.  I called the companies and they shipped replacements since I never actually received what I had ordered.

Agreed.  The odds that your thief was in the right place at the right time and wears the same size shoe as you are too remote.  It's either a prank or you've got an enemy in the neighborhood.  Did you sleep with someone's girlfriend recently or kick their dog?

Looks great to me!

Absolutely, I purchased the snuff Neumok as a casual shoe, and it works well.  The unlined suede and oiled single leather sole make it VERY comfortable too.  I find the tone on tone lacing a bit dreary and prefer the colored laces instead.

It was an ebay purchase. I have contacted the seller, an obviously high volume person, but I suspect they will feel no obligation.
