Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - Page 848

Hi all!

I've got a pair of rapid city's on order and was hoping people could post experiences and/or pictures of them in action. Tried the black hills for a day but they were a tad narrow. Hoping the different last will do the trick. Thanks.

Pull it off (is that even possible) and reattach it with some special shoe glue?

Beyond the basic shoe care, I know nothing of shoes. I posted here instead of the shoe care thread because I figured you guys have more experience with AE's.

AE will probably fix it for free if you send it to their recrafting service. Just give them a call.

Black Park Aves are on sale at amazon for 268 in my size. Is this as good of a sale anyone has seen for new Park Aves, or can I do better?

Should be $218 with coupon (Enter promo code CYBRSHOE at checkout to save $20 off $100 orders or $50 off $200 orders on eligible items sold and shipped directly by Amazon. Sale ends on November 29, 2012.)

Seems as good a price as ever - usually around $200 during the Nordstrom sales but would be subject to tax. Not sure where you're located - you might have to pay tax anyways.

Not the best pic but here is the latest addition to my group, the Aberdeen Tan Dublin Leather:

Our country is the worst, not sure what's wrong.
Even when you go to most big name brands websites, they list all countries, but Canada.
Even when you go to Ralph Lauren.com

Long-time occasional lurker, though I've been reading much more frequently lately. 2-part question on the Long Branches:

1) Obviously they're not super formal, but does the Vibram sole rule out the possibility of wearing them with a suit? I'm looking for something versatile, that can be dressed up or down.

2) The gray version is on sale for $199. Do these have a practical purpose? What color pants could you wear gray boots with? I have a bright blue suit that could go great in my mind, but it could also be a disaster.

I'm debating between these and the Dalton, but the ruggedness of the Long Branches to wear in the winter is very appealing to me.

Also, what products do people use for the upper? I know what AE says, but I'm wondering if I can get some better advice here. Thanks!

When I got my Cognac McTavish, I put the Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion on them, let them dry, and buffed them. They look great.

I haven't treated the sole edges yet, but will likely use the brown edge dressing - but I will wipe it off quickly as I don't want the sole edges too dark brown.

My personal opinion - take that for what it's worth (not much) - is that the Long Branch is a jeans / casual twill / casual cords type of boot. I wouldn't wear them with a suit or slacks / sport coat.

I am tempted by the gray Long Branch, but as almost a strictly jeans boot.

Just got my first pairs of AE Park Avenues for an upcoming interview and I must say I'm in love with them. I'm actually looking to add some to my collection but I have no idea what width size my shoes are.

How do you tell what size they are? I can see that they're 10.5 but I don't see anything regarding the width. There are some numbers after the size but I can't make sense of it.

Anyone have a clue? Thanks!

There should be a letter - A through E - after the size. That would be the width.

You're right, 218, and I happen to have a $75 amazon credit sitting around doing nothing so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Can't wait for my 1st pair of AE's!
