Got myself some black Park Aves and some walnut Strands finally! Way better than the 2nd's deal because they only had the rubber soles on sale. Thought you guys would like to know!

Thanks for this info! Coupon works great!

Someone else posted on this but Amazon is having a nice sale on AE's right now on selected models and use CYBRSHOE for an extra $50 off $200 if shoe is direct from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_in_-2_p_4_2?t=slickdeals&tag=slickdeals&rh=n%3A672123011%2Cn%3A%21672124011%2Cn%3A679255011%2Cp_4%3AAllen+Edmonds&bbn=679255011&ie=UTF8&qid=1353903578&rnid=679797011

You can stack the coupon on top of the current price. I ended up grabbing some McTavishes for $170, had been considering them previously as a casual shoe, great price with the current sale.

Thanks!  I am pretty happy with the current state of my collection - I have space for 1 or 2 more pair, then I'd be forced to expand my shoe storage into our guest closet (not something I'm willing to do at the moment).

I'm wondering if your Daltons are truly that light in natural light.  I know my shell Daltons are a lot darker than some other pics I've seen and kind of wish I could get another pair that were much lighter.  Can one still custom order a walnut shell Dalton, do anyone know?

The pictures make them show up a shade or two lighter than they really are, but not that far off.  Here are a couple more pictures:

The most accurate picture from a color standpoint is probably the one taken on the brick patio.  Even though it was taken in direct 4pm sunlight, the camera and software did a good job of color-balancing.

Certainly lighter than the AE promotional pictures at the time seemed to indicate:

You sir always seem to keep your stable in immaculate condition, which is not easy. With all due respect hats off to you good sir!  And once again beautiful collection and job maintaining them. worship2.gif

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words.  Full disclosure - I was doing some brushing as I watched the pre-game coverage before my guests arrived for the Buckeye - Wolverine football game, so they were all freshly brushed.  But, my care regimen is fairly simple, both for calf and for shell - damp rag, followed by some brushing.  I do this every 2-3 wears for most of my shells, and probably after every wear for my calf shoes (I just don't wear the calf shoes that frequently).  Roughly 2 times pear year, I do a full Reno / wax treatment on the shoes that look like they need it.  After looking at the pics, it became evident I need to do some sole edge dressing next time I have an opportunity.

I'm assuming shoes on the same last will result in the same fit? I have PA's and considering McAllister's.

This is considered a good assumption, but not a hard and fast rule.  There are plenty of people who have found exceptions to this.  If you can try them on before purchasing, it is a good idea to do so.  However, AE's free shipping and easy return policy makes it pretty much risk-free to order them online if you have to go that route.  Just make sure you wear them for an hour or so on 3-4 consecutive days to assess fit and break them in.  As long as you don't wear them outside and scuff up the soles you can return them.

Good info. Had to jump on the Merlot McAllister's on amazon with that $50 off code. Hopefully they fit, but I'll do what you said about breaking them in. My PA's have slight bowing around the ankle opening, which I'm a bit concerned with on the McAllister, but I think I'd have to go bespoke or up another tier of shoe quality to remedy that, which I'm not willing to do at this point.

Thanks.

I was coming here to fill everyone in on the Amazon deal, but I've been beat to the punch. Strands and McAllisters $194 shipped?...couldn't pass that up.

I ordered the navy Neumok with the Amazon sale, and the Amok from the main website.  This is getting out of hand.

The sale is very tempting. Tried cronmoks on last week and they were so comfy. Haven't decided 100% on what color, although I'm leaning towards brown.

Please, no more sales.

Nice if you are a D width. No E

I have only tried on the Strand and it fit me perfectly in a 9.5 D. So ,rather than risk another style, I purcahsed the black and Walnut Strand in 9.5D. Deal even with the duty into Canada.

Seriously! I noticed most E widths are either standard priced or unavailable.

I was looking to pick up a pair of AE from Amazon with the sale going on and hoping for some quick advice. Looking at AE since I wear 14D and they seem to be the only place to find nice shoes in that size.

Right now, I almost never have a need to wear dress shoes. I'm in the military and don't need them for work. This would be my first pair of dress shoes to start a shoe collection to build up over the years. With that in mind, I was thinking about one of the following:

Park Avenue or Fifth Avenue in black for formal occasions. Leaning towards Park Avenue.

Fifth Avenue, Park Avenue, Strand, or Sanford in brown or walnut for more casual occasions. Currently leaning Fifth Avenue in brown.

Anyone have an opinion on one of these for a first pair of shoes?
