Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - Page 841

So today with the Jefferson outlet, I managed to buy a pair of Dalton's at 30% off the seconds price ($299) and 2 pairs of Cliftons ( black and burgundy) at $99 each. Thinking if I should order a pair of brown fifth street and brown PA as well.

I currently have these shoes in rotation, do you guys have any suggestions on a pair of shoes that could round out my collection?  This morning I ordered a pair of Elgins.
 - Black PA
 - Black McTavish
 - Brown Kenilworth
 - Walnut Strand & Dalton
 - Dark Chocolate Dalton
 - Chili Byrons
 - Brown Neumoks

I would consider a burgundy or merlot in whatever style you would get the most use from. I have burgandy in the Sanford (I think, it's a medallion cap toe blucher), Shelton, Alden shell (#8) cap toe and some Alden #8 LWBs on the way. Obviously, I like the color. I am contemplating some dark brown Strands currently.

Dont generally wear "dress pants"- mostly jeans and chinos. Have a pair of Gramercy.

For 99 would you add a pair of Elgins or Park Aves in walnut?

By the way, if there is still an outlet store open, they are selling park avenue walnut color for 99$ if they have it in your size. Ends today.

There don't seem to be any West Coast outlets from the search I did.

There used to be one outside Palm Springs. I was there on my honeymoon in 2004.

I went ahead and got the 8 3E. I posted recently asking for sizing input from anyone who had the Daltons. My Dalton in 8.5 D originally fit bit snugly, but they are fine now after being broken in. The Strand in 8 3E seems to fit me really well right out of the box.

Any chance you guys think the $ 99 deals will carry over to Saturday, Sunday, or Cyber Monday. I would love to pick up the walnut Park Avenues for my dad as his first AE shoes. Don't think he will like brogue shoes.

Where is everyone calling to get these $99 McCallisters and Park Avenues? I called a number of outlets/shoe banks and all I kept getting were prices >$200. Would take 8.5D McCallisters for $99 in a heartbeat.

My brother was in town from San Antonio for the holiday weekend and we were out driving around Dallas today. He's 25 and just passed the BAR exam and was hired on at a law firm 2 weeks ago. We started talking about the clothes he wears to work. he has his basics covered regarding suits; a couple Of perfectly serviceable Jos A Banks suits that he bought when he was an unpaid intern as a student and recently bought a couple nicer Brooks Brothers suits. He then mentioned that he's still wearing the same pair of dress shoes he had in high school for dances- ya know, ugly corrected grain leather, rubber soles... your basic JC Penny bs probably. I told him he was crazy and we were gonna go get him some AEs. As luck would have it, I checked the address on my phone and we were 2 miles from the Dallas AE store. Twenty minutes later he walked out with a pair of walnut Strands, matching belt, trees and polish. Now he'll look the part when going to court.

I also couldn't help myself and bought a pair of cognac Mctavish. Great day!icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

You're the only person so far!  I appreciate your insight.  Originally, I thought that a Fifth might be slightly more formal than a Strand.  But, the Fifth seems like an odd compromise between a Park Ave. and a Strand.  After putting on my Walnut Strands, I was blown away with how much I liked them.  Which led to me reconsidering my next purchase of a Fifth Ave. and switching to a Shell Strand.

By the way guys, the belts I snatched for about $42 or $45 from the outlet might be these:

They seem like the wide basic belt but with a single keeper.

I found 20% off through 11/29 at J Michaels Clothiers and their regular prices on some things seem pretty good to begin with.

Contacted the Shoe Bank about the Randolph chili grain loafers for $99 which they originally told me were $179 yesterday. Well after a member here got them for $99 I emailed them and told them. They said it was a mistake and they were indeed on sale for $99. I called today and they honored the $99 price even though the sale ended yesterday. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

That means I have 5 pairs of Allen Edmonds and can officially say I have a rotation now:

1) Park Avenue black (cap toe balmoral)
2) Clifton burgundy (blucher)

Soon to arrive:

3) Del Ray brown (split toe blucher)
4) Mcallister bourbon (wingtip)
5) Randolph chili grain (loafer)

In the spring time I plan to add a Patriot loafer brown shell and then next winter probably a Cambridge shell burgundy. I will probably be happy with that collection and can live with that for the next few decades. Any further shoes added after that will probably just be gravy satisfied.gif.
