Nice find and thanks for the pics.  I think they were discontinued in the 80's - but that's just info I picked up from this thread.  Never seen them IRL.  Seem very similar to the McAllister, though there are subtle differences.

Today's shoes: burgundy shell Randolph.

Those look fantastic.  Have fun wearing your new vintage shoes!  It's extremely rare to find shoes that old in pristine condition. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I'm having issues with my heels slipping out of my shoes. I tried tongue pads today with no luck. After looking at the shoes I noticed the top of both of the back (?) of the shoes looking loose. I have other shoes and they aren't like this. Would this be considered a defect? padeje2y.jpg

Think this is the link http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=5637565011

I signed up for the mailing list last night but wasn't given a code :(

DRESSHOL was one of the 20% options beyond the shoe mailing list. It only worked on certain AEs, but since I had already used the 20% off for the shoe mailing list, I used DRESSHOL for my McAllisters.

this is called toe spring. it is by design.

this can be pronounced by not treeing your shoes, or it can be pronounced by the fit of your shoe. i'm pretty sure you'd need to leave a pair of leather shoes out of trees for ten+ years to see the toe curl up a ton. trees are important less for maintaining the shape of the sole and more for maintaining the shape of the uppers.

DRESSHOL has expired.

Heads up for college students, Allen Edmonds is running a promotion where you can go to any retail Allen Edmonds store and get a free tie or belt when you buy a calfskin leather shoe. You must show your Student ID for this promotion. Full details here http://www.craveobject.com/2012/11/allen-edmonds-free-tie-or-belt-for.html

RE: Toe curl, thanks for info guys. Mine is just normal then.

I still don't see any Thanksgiving sale on the AE website?

Me neither - and haven't gotten a response from the shoebank when i've inquired. (which isn't the norm) Do we know definitively if this is on firsts or seconds? If it's firsts through the regular store, i'll call my regular store in the city and have them hold a pair for me. If it's for seconds only, i want to get my order in before my size runs out!

In my experience I've never gotten a response from the Shoe Bank when I've inquired about future sales. For all other things they usually respond to me though.
