copped these bad boys in 10.5 and there is a bit of heel slippage but either it is very minimal or seems minimal because it is a boot. will that go away or should I size down to a 10?

Does anyone think these two shoes go with any kind of pants in particular? At the moment I just like the way they look but I really am bad at gauging the appropriateness of shoes with certain attire.
Thanks.

Hello fellow AE fans. I'm a longtime lurker, first time poster. I have a few pairs of AE's, mostly from the casual collection,
Elgin 11 D
McTavish Tan 11 D
Neumok Green 11 E
Aberdeen Tan 11.5 E
Black Hills 11.5 E
I'm a therapist at a VA Clinic and work with Veterans who are often struggling financially, so I try to dress accordingly. Even so, I like to express my love for shoes. I often feel overdressed compared to even my coworkers, much less my clients. I'm really wanting the Strands in Walnut, but also believe the Strands in Bourbon would be a great bet come Derby time. My question is, if you had to pick one of these two given my collection, which would you choose, which might be less "flashy"? Also, any advice on "dressing down" so that my love for shoes doesn't seem so "flashy". Most of the people in my world see brogues as flashy, but I just love them and am afraid a dress brogue like the Strand might really be over the top. Anyone else in a work situation like this, if so, how to do you manage?
Looking forward to contributing now that I've taken the first step to sign up!
I think both of the Strands are too dressy for what you describe, but if it is between one or the other, I would go with the walnut (which I have) over the bourbon (which I am thinking about purchasing).
From a "dress casual" standpoint, I don't think you could do much better than you have already. I don't know if a boot, from AE of maybe one from Alden, would be an option. You would have a nice, quality shoe that would not be seen as flashy.

Hi everyone,
I picked up a pair of Allen Edmond shoes at my local thrift store and I'm wondering if you can tell me what style they are, as I am quite curious!
As you can see, they're definitely used, but I think they're still in good shape. They even still had trees inside them!
Any assistance you can provide would be most welcome. Thank you for your help!

If that number obscured by the shoe tree is 6275, it is the McAllister in burgundy polished cobbler.
I have that model and here is picture of mine.

Hey everyone. Currently considering either the McAllister or the Cordovan Cambridge. All else being equal I would go for the Cambridge, but that might not be in the cards soon because I just picked a pair of Ferragamo Tramezza Renzo's (slightly used but still

Cordovan leather and double sole in the Cambridges. I like mine with grey and blue slacks mostly.
I have the Dalton in 8.5D, and it fits well except the right foot feels slightly tight. For the Dalton at least, I'm pretty sure my true size is an 8 E. But I think it will break in and feel okay. I know it's always best to try on a pair, but I was wondering if anyone with both the Dalton and Strand could compare the sizing between the two?
I am thinking about ordering the Strand in 8 3E.
Thanks!

I noticed that Amazon's selling the Strand for $249 for certain sizes. The Strand in 8.5-D, 8.5-3E, 8-D and 8-3E are all selling for $249 right now (and lot of the D and 3E in other sizes as well). I also have the %20 discount coupon so I'm able to get it for under $200.

I have the Dalton in 8.5D and Strands in 8E... I am probably an 8Eish or EE true size.
For me, the 8EEE Strand was a bit too wide. Case in point, when I first put on the shoe, the laces almost touched compared to the 8E where there was a gap.
But, after breaking in the 8E, the laces almost touch now and the tighter fit feels a bit better as opposed to more room; aka. foot slippage in the 8EEE.
The one other thing I will say is to be sure the blade of your foot does not touch the edge of the insole. I felt this in the 8D I tried on and aside for upper tightness, it was another sign to me of a shoe being too narrow.
As with all AE, probably best if you can have both sizings brought in and keep the one that fits best.
I have a concern, I bought new Navy Neumoks on Zappos.com for full price and there were seams coming undone all over the rim of the right shoe. Returned and refunded.
I then bought a new Navy Neumok on Ebay from a reputable shoe saler, there was a huge gash in the welt (I think that's what it's called, what connects the sole to the upper). It wasn't negligible, it was pretty damn big. Returned and refunded.
I then go to Nordstrom's in person assuming they're gonna be perfect, no hassle of returns, contacting dealer, etc... Both sizes 12D and 13D were flawed in the welt (again!), I took the 13D which is my true size because the imperfection was truly negligible and I was tired of running around. However, I really didn't expect this from a place like Nordstrom.
My questions are: Is AE selling these sellers seconds knowing that they would be sold as new for full price? I am finding the flaws in Neumoks, at least in my experience, as commonplace. Who is to blame here? Is each individual seller culpable, I find that a little too coincidental. Is AE to blame? (I hope not, they really are my favorite shoes, I have a Strawfut in brown-linen that is truly faultless and I bought that for 130$ (!!!) on Ebay)
From an AE FAQ/Spokesperson:
What constitutes a "second"?
Our quality standards are so high that the slightest imperfection constitutes a factory second. In many cases, these slight imperfections cannot even be noticed by an untrained eye.
Can you describe a typical "flaw" in a second?
Factory second flaws are subtle imperfections. Examples include a scuff in the leather, an uneven stitch or an imperfection in the leather.
Seconds are about what percentage of production?
Less than 5 percent of total production.
Here's the shoe with gash:
Yes I have the brown shell strands. I have various alden cigar shell models as well, but not the cigar cap toe you mention (I assume you mean the balmoral on the Hampton last). It really comes down to whether you want a captoe (straight tip), i.e., the Alden model, or a captoe with medallion toe, i.e., the AE strand. And you need to consider the respective lasts the shoes are built on.
For me personally the tie breaker is the last, and I prefer AE's 5 last to Alden's Hampton last. The Alden model will be about $80 more. But you can't go wrong with either one. NOTE: I have the Alden color 8 captoe (straight tip). It is the exact same as the cigar model you mention.
I would choose either of the above over the brown shell PA, but that too is a nice shoe in its own right.

The 20% coupon is DRESSHOL right? It doesn't work with the already discounted Strands. Tried it :(
Unless there's another one which I am not aware of. :(
