I recently got the Norwich during the sale and it's a little tight/uncomfortable around the ball of the foot. Does this area stretch out? I have a size 9E in the Norwich and I wear a size 9E in the Park Avenue. Would you guys recommend sizing up? 9EE or 9.5D?

 

Also does the squeaking on the Norwich go away? It's a little disappointing to pay a lot of money for a pair of shoes to have this kind of problem...

Very impressed with AE tonight. I ordered my pair of Fifth Avenue a week ago Wednesday. When I called the SA said they didn't have any in my size and that they would have to be made. He gave me a time frame of about 2 to 3 weeks to be made.

When I got home from work tonight my brand new shoes were waiting for me on the kitchen table. I had ordered shoe trees as well which haven't arrived yet but I'm very impressed with the time it took to get the shoes.

I just got some Dalton's and they seem to squeak. Will this go away after a few wears?

For me:

AE PA - 9D
Alden Bal - 9.5D

But some wear the same size.

I am TTS 9.5D.

Easy Golf I'm not sure what is causing the squeak if its the leather yeah if it's a shank no. I don't remember my Dalton's squeaking

The are posts in this thread that answer your question (search is your friend). The brief answer is, Saphir Reno or other leather treatment - particularly to the tongue - helps reduce the noise. Enjoy the Daltons!

I went up a width in my Norwich... 8.5D to 8.5E. The fit was much better a width up.

 

As for the squeaking, using some Reno or other conditioning product across the tongue should make it go away over time.

Mine squeaked for a couple of weeks until I worked enough lubrication into the area.

 

The Norwich are easily one of the best plain toe shoes in my opinion... would love to get the brown shells but can't justify it since I purchased the burnish brown calf.

thanks for the advice. even when i unlace the boots, there seems to be some squeaking. it looks like it is coming from the back of the shoe, right above the heel area, where there is some broquing.

Was just trolling the AE website thinking I need some type of plain toe boot after all the plain toe discussions and came across the new web gems.

Not sure these are for me, but as my two year old daughter would say, Feet Blankets!

That is one horrific web gem.

 

Starting to break in nicely.....I applied a coat of Saphir Reno, two coats of the light brown Saphir cream polish, and two coats of the light brown Saphir wax polish on the toe area.  I also had a topy applied this week.
